Achsah, the beautiful daughter of Caleb, gives us an example to follow: “Ask, Believe, Receive” (episode links below).  

 Achsah had been given a nice marital dowry from her father, but the land lacked water. Without water access, the usefulness and value of the land would fail. Should she ask for more? She asked and received even beyond what she needed. 

 Our Heavenly Father is good. He loves us more than we can understand, and He waits for us to ask. Believing, we can receive.

In Joshua 2 we learn about the “Braveheart” of Rahab (episode links below).  

 Two spies were sent by Joshua to survey Jericho before the Israelites would take the land. Rahab the harlot risked her life to hide these spies, saving their lives. She chose to be brave instead of faint-hearted when the time came to step up. Because of her courage and faith, she and her entire family were saved. Rahab received honorable mention years later in Hebrews.

As we study the life of Ruth, a “Loyal Woman” in the Old Testament, we’re encouraged to remain faithful and loyal through challenges. In that, there is reward.

 When Ruth’s husband died, she chose to stay by her mother-in-law’s side, even to follow her into a foreign country. Indeed, God had a good plan for her – she married Boaz, Naomie’s relative and perpetuated the lineage through King David, eventually to Jesus Christ.

There are many instances in the Bible, “Miracles Happen” when we believe. In this episode, we turn to Matthew 9 when Jesus raised a girl from the dead and we imagine being on the scene.

 I introduce my testimony of the Lord rescuing and redeeming me, though I didn’t deserve it. If He would do this for me, He would for you. This is a common thread in my Standing Through Storms book series: ‘STAND With Your Armor On,’ ‘My Dear Rosa Jean,’ and ‘Mystery at Candice Bay.’

We can find encouragement to maintain courageous faith in the Lord to fulfill our purpose, as Jehosheba did when she became the “Rescuer” of baby Joash.

 In this episode we look to 2 Kings 11 and 2 Chronicles 22 for the story of a wicked family line being broken, ultimately to cause a good king to rise up. It took Jehosheba’s obedience for such a time as this to preserve the lineage of King David to the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

This episode describes the life of a “Dedicated Mother” from the Old Testament, Hannah. 

 Left barren several years, Hannah prayed a vow to the Lord, that if He granted her a son, she would dedicate him to the Lord. Her consistent, faithful prayers were answered. She gave birth to the Prophet Samuel, and she honored her vow. The Lord blessed Hannah.

When King Hezekiah (Is. 38) received bad news, he prayed for God and received “Answered Prayers.” 

 King Hezekiah reminded the Lord of his faithfulness. If we’re not at that point in life, there is a remedy. We can turn to God with repentance, believing and accepting Jesus. Lovers of God can hope for God’s good plans, for a good future. We can rally our faith as we patiently wait for answered prayers.

The prophecy in Isaiah 53 (over seven decades before Christ) describes the crucifixion of Jesus. “By His Stripes” we are healed; we are saved when we believe. 

 In this episode we are urged to come to Jesus without delay. How? Pray with a humble, contrite heart, believing in Jesus, and accept Him as Lord and Savior. We receive God’s grace through the redemptive blood of Christ.

The enemy presents us with “Distractions” frequently every day. With them comes deceit, encouraging negative thoughts and emotions to grow. 

Whatever takes our focus off the Lord is a distraction. When we recognize that has happened, we can look to the past when we were delivered from troubles and in faith, re-focus on the Lord.
