Can Black and White Women REALLY Be Friends ft. Ber-Henda Williams

Can Black and White Women REALLY Be Friends ft. Ber-Henda Williams

Did you hear about the controversy swirling around The Talk co-hosts, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood? Well, that "mess" had me asking anew, Can Black and White Women REALLY Be Friends? It's a real question to me, one who has had her share of traumatizing experiences with white women. So, I decided I wanted to explore this question. Ber-Henda Williams, Visionary+Empath Coach and bilingual poet who believes feminine empaths are here to disrupt the patriarchy and oppression with their mission-based businesses, immediately came to mind.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • One reason white people recoil when called a racist
    • What "kind" of white women make good friends to Black women
    • And much more...

How a Food Addict Won Her 40-Year Battle Over Obesity w/Michelle Petties

How a Food Addict Won Her 40-Year Battle Over Obesity w/Michelle Petties

Michelle Petties's Uncle Billy won't eat watermelon because when he was a kid decades ago he and a friend stole one. Uncle Billy's dad whipped him for stealing, and killed Uncle Billy's taste for the juicy fruit forever. That story was a lightbulb moment for Michelle Petties, author of the forthcoming book Leaving Large: How a Food Addict Won Her 40-Year Battle Over Obesity. In this episode, Michelle talks candidly about her battle with obesity, cosmetic surgery, and how uncovering her own Food Stories helped her shed 60 unwanted pounds, transform her body, relationships and life.

    We Belong Here

    We Belong Here

Yesterday was a fantastic Valentine’s Day for me. Not because a man gave me flowers, chocolate or jewelry. In fact, I spent Valentine’s Day at home alone. I didn’t feel alone or lonely though. I felt, uh, loved, content and inspired. So inspired that I decided to drop another episode; it’s a BONUS. Take a listen. If it blesses you in any way, go on and share it.

The Secret to Achieving More Sooner w/Michelle Boggan

The Secret to Achieving More Sooner w/Michelle Boggan

It’s too common for Black women to not ask for help, to go it alone, and struggle in silence. I get it, I can be that woman. But it’s tiring, hard and old. In this episode, my podcast creation accountability partner Michelle Boggan and I share our journey to becoming podcasters. Because of my commitment to authenticity, transparency, and vulnerability, I broach a topic I hadn’t discussed with Michelle prior to this recording. Awkward!

    31. The Angry Hat

    31. The Angry Hat

Yelling, hitting, betraying and hurting. These are the types of behaviors we see manifested when someone is angry. It seems so obvious - he's angry and that's why he's doing those things. So, why talk about it? As it turns out, anger, its reality and its manifestations, are often misunderstood. This includes the anger ascribed to Melissa and Kerri as Black women. So, we decided: let's talk about what it means to wear the Angry Hat, dispel some myths and give some tips. Joining the co-hosts for this conversation is renowned expert Patrice Douglas, PsyD. Dr. Douglas sheds brilliant light on the topic of anger in her knowledgeable and relatable way.
