    Fighting back against hate crimes

    Fighting back against hate crimes

The numbers are just heartbreaking. Over the last 30 years, 216,786 hate crimes were reported in the United States.

And 34% of those crimes were against African Americans. Hate crimes against Jewish Americans placed second, with nearly 13%.

Now, as 2022 gets underway, state lawmakers are looking to pass new hate crime legislation. The question is: Will it have an effect?

Those are the questions Spectrum News 13’s Ybeth Bruzual puts to Sarah Emmons, regional director for the Anti-Defamation League, and Olivia Babis, senior public policy analyst for Disability Rights Florida, on this week’s Central Florida: Beyond the Soundbite.

    ABOUT THE SHOW

Political figures and influencers are often heard in brief bites that don’t capture the context of the whole story. “Central Florida: Beyond the Soundbite” expands the conversation with these newsmakers along the I-4 corridor and beyond. Join award-winning Spectrum News 13 anchor and Orlando Woman of the Year Ybeth Bruzual, political reporter Greg Angel, and veteran producer Gary Darling for a must-hear interview each week and learn about the issues affecting Central Florida.

They discussed the mistakes of Nick Cannon's comments, The Minister, and other issues that Nick Cannon may have brought on himself and their culture, as a result of his anti cultural remarks.

Cool Water takes a deep dive into Nick Cannon's ass kissing, and his need to please the other culture for his action. We discuss the African Culture and why no matter how much ass Nick Cannon kisses, he will never reach a place of respect from their culture. We also take a look at other celebrities and how this is nothing new in the discipline that is inflicted on people who say something anti-semitic.

182 - Nation of Yahweh Cult: Murder, Manipulation, and Black Supremacy

182 - Nation of Yahweh Cult: Murder, Manipulation, and Black Supremacy

At the height of its power in the late 1980s, the Miami-based Nation of Yahweh cult had satellite temples around the country and a lucrative business empire of apartment complexes, hotels, stores and fleets of Greyhound buses and Rolls Royce cars, all painted stark white. Its leader, Hulon Mitchell, jr., aka Yahweh ben Yahweh, estimated the sect's holdings at $100 million. And what did this cult believe? That white people are "devils" and that black Americans and Africans are the true Jews who should own Israel and that white Jews are the spawn of Satan. And what did this cult do? They killed a bunch of people and their leader molested and manipulated an untold number of followers in the craziest of ways. One of the wildest tales we've told so far!
