This podcast is a replay of Sarah's original podcast she published in August 2020.     The Autumn Sewing Celebration is the first online sewing conference style event developed by the Australian Sewing Guild (ASG).

    In 2020 the ASG worked hard and developed online workshops and sewing challenges to further people's sewing skills - a great sewing community asset.

    There are 14 presenters from a range of industries and practices to keep ASG members interest both on the day and for 6 months after this event. The big plus is the presenters will be available on the day to take audience questions at the time their video presentations are launched.

    There is a live Zoom presentation with Pam Holland and at the end of the day there is a live Zoom celebration for all participants and presenters to round off such a huge day for everyone.

    Don't feel alone while you watch each presentation as you sew your own projects at home. There will be ASG volunteers to give you a virtual hand or advice on the day #askasghelp.

    Participants will also get a virtual show bag with discounts from industry partners and our presenters.

    Make sure you can make it to the cocktail hour at the end of the Autumn Sewing Celebration. Participants will receive recipes for ASG named cocktails and mocktails as well as a marsala chai tea recipe. Come celebrate with your online sewing friends on 27 March 2021. We hope to see you there.

    Louise Sparrow, Chair of the Australian Sewing Guild is back for her last planned podcast for 2020. There may be more before 2020 comes to a close but for now Louise and the Board are taking a well earned break based on this year's monthly sewing challenges and online sewing workshops.

    December's challenge is to sew a Christmas stocking. It's that simple. Go to town and be as creative as you want in this challenge. Leave no notion unused and dive into your stash to create the Christmas stocking you want Santa to fill.

    There is a random draw prize so no judging will take place. Everyone is a winner. You have to be in it to win it.

    Louise Sparrow, Chair of the Australian Sewing Guild is back to tell us about a special online couture sewing presentation bought to you by Kenneth D King. In this 90 minute presentation, Kenneth teaches us how to sew couture strap seams via Zoom.

    This presentation will also be available for 2 weeks after the presentation. You can go back and hear Kenneth D King who was on ASG Monday last week.

    There are 2 more online workshops this month. You can finesse your skills when sewing a lined vent. You can also learn how to sew in an easy-sew collar stand. This workshop and previous online workshops will help members to put their new sewing skills into practice for the November challenge - Stitch a Shirt

    Kenneth D King is managing his anxiety by sewing Barbie clothes and you'll also hear his story and how having a library of sewing patterns that fit are what he recommends for people who love to sew.

    The Australian Sewing Guild is about to launch #memademonday in October. This is a challenge to showcase what you've sewn while you've been in social isolation.

    Every year a similar challenge #memademay is fairly similar and runs everyday in May.

    The ASG October challenge on the 4 Mondays in October is your chance to showcase your sewing projects on instagram and on facebook. Make sure you note the pattern used, fabric used, any details about the project and use #memademonday and #australiansewingguild. You might enjoy this challenge and take us Memademay next year.  Go on!

    Louise Sparrow is back to update us about 2 new online workshops and the next sewing challenge for September. The Australian Sewing Guild aims to share and further the art of sewing for their members. 

    ASG has evolved to provide online sewing workshops this year and their members have been thrilled with their ability to adapt to our 'new normal'.

    Louise Sparrow updates us on the Pleated Skirt challenge. With the lockdown in Melbourne, Speciality Pleaters will be closed for 3 weeks. This challenge is being extended to ensure everyone gets their pleated skirt made. You still have time to join this challenge. There's more time to get your project done.

    Also get ready for more workshops. The triangle bound buttonhole and banded v-neckline workshops are being run again. Keep an eye out for the new shirt making technique workshops about to be launched. These workshops are great for new sewists and there is a more challenge workshops for experienced sewists.

    ASG Monday new workshops

    This month ASG are running more workshops and they're all online too. The initial bound buttonhole workshops were free to members as the ASG tutors were getting used to using Zoom to run these workshops. Members also had this time to get used to using Zoom for workshops. 

    This experiment has really paid off, making ASG workshops more accessible to everyone globally.
