Welcome to the Horror Project Podcast. Join hosts Phil and Laura as they review Insidious (2010).

We revisit Insidious for the first time since it’s 2010 release, but do those big scares still have an effect after all of this time?

We discuss the big bad - The Lipstick-Face Demon who has more than a passing resemblance to Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace character Darth Maul. We also compare Insidious to James Wan’s other film’s Saw and The Conjuring

Plus we shall be finding a place on the leaderboard for the movie during our Ranking.

Episode Four: Devilish and Demonic (The Entity and Angel Heart)

Join Jeff and Dylan as they talk about some of their favorite films involving the demonic and the devilish. Jeff brings the Barbara Hershey classic, The Entity, while Dylan continues to beat the drum for Angel Heart.

CONTENT WARNING: While Jeff and Dylan often talk about movies that have material that can be upsetting or triggering for some people, The Entity is, first and foremost, a movie about sexual assault. Both the motion picture and the hosts go into some detail regarding how sexual assault survivors are treated by the world at large, so please keep that in mind going into this episode. However, like the movie, we do not spend a lot of time on the attacks themselves.

Will Jeff and Dylan manage to talk about The Entity all the way through without needing to take a break?

Will Angel Heart provide some much needed light-hearted moments for them to recover?

    Chloe Okuno on 'Black Swan'

How is an overprotected ballerina on the brink of a major career coup like an up-and-coming director with a huge debut thriller on her hands? It’s not a riddle — it’s the topic of today’s episode with Chloe Okuno, director of the brand new movie WATCHER. She’s talking about how she sees herself in Natalie Portman’s Nina Sayers in BLACK SWAN.

Then, it’s even more women on the brink with Jordan’s one quick thing about LUX ÆTERNA, one of Gaspar Noe’s new films.

    Bette Midler: Beaches (1988)

This week we've got quite the tearjerker for you...if you are into that sort of thing. Unfortunately we were not. That's right folks, we're reviewing Beaches as part of our Bette Midler retrospective. Apologies in advance if you loved or find close attachment to this particular piece of cinema, but we didn't connect on any level. Sure, Bette Midler is great. She's always great. Heck, her play about "Otto Titsling" is amazing.  Even the set design slaps. It's just not enough. As always, we had fun working through what worked and what didn't and hope you'll join us on this journey...to the beach.

    BONUS...The Other Paul Williams

    BONUS...The Other Paul Williams

In Episode 34 of The World Is Wrong podcast we celebrated the film "The November Men: from 1993. For that episode we interviewed screenwriter/actor James Andronica who is half of the creative duo behind the film. Today we get deep with the other half, director/actor PAUL WILLIAMS. Williams is the director of several "New Hollywood" films including "Out Of It", "The Revolutionary", "Dealing: or the Berkeley-to-Boston Forty-Brick Lost-Bag Blues" and "Nunzio". His stories and experiences were too vast to fit into this one interview and we are currently working with Paul on spin-off podcast devoted entirely to this subject matter. Stay tuned.
