    Bolts: Matthew 7:1-6

    Bolts: Matthew 7:1-6

Jesus tells the parable of two men: one with a speck in his eye and one with a plank. The parable was aimed at a specific audience of Jesus' day (Hint: They weren't big fans of him) and was intended to encourage a change in perspective and behavior towards ourselves. Join Josh and Femi as they discuss the Parable of the Plank and the Speck.

Ep 12: The Power of Fear and V for Vendetta

Ep 12: The Power of Fear and V for Vendetta

Remember, remember, the 5th of November! The 2005 film starring Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman shows the dangers of fear to a society. Whether in the mind of the average citizen or a deranged dictator, fear drives us to selfishness and forgetfulness of the humanity in others. In this episode, Femi and Josh discuss the importance of Jesus as a real person rather than just an idea, how to balance sympathy and accountability for people's genuine fears, and how Christians should approach conspiracy theories. Supporting Scripture:

    Story of Moses (Exodus) / Romans 12:19 / Book of Jeremiah / 1 Samuel 8 / Romans 12-14

Ep 11: The Pressure of Expectations and Encanto

Ep 11: The Pressure of Expectations and Encanto

Encanto took the world by storm with its catchy soundtrack and lovable characters. Underneath its approachable exterior, Encanto addresses important issues like social pressure and exclusion when we don't measure up. In this episode, Femi and Josh discuss the film's themes of family, expectations, and generational healing.

    Supporting Scripture:

    Genesis 12:1-3 / Romans 12:3-8 / Galatians 6:2-6 / Ephesians 1:18-19 / James 2:1-13 / 1 Timothy 4:11-16 / 1 Timothy 5:1-2 / 1 Peter 5:5

The Importance of Entering the World

The Importance of Entering the World

To leave one's home and to enter into the world is often the highest and most difficult stage in one's life.
One has to leave behind the familiar, trade it with the unknown. This is a stage of turmoil and difficulty, but why do we often hear God commanding us to do just that, to leave our comfort and enter the world?
To me and Warren, the world is a field in which one can learn about oneself, to develop oneself. And it is this ability for one to unlock a somewhat boundless, divine potential, which makes it worthwhile to enter into the unknown, the world.
