This Cuban jazz pianist played with the Orquesta Cubana de Musicana Moderna, Arturo Sandoval, United Nations Orchestra, Jane Bunnett and more. His latest album brings back the big band sound! We discuss players like Chucho Valdez, Charles Mingus and Dizzy Gillespie who have influenced him.

A zenekar dinamikus fejlődése során mára a kortárs zene világszinten is elismert reprezentálójává nőtte ki magát. Gábor ennek apropóján érkezett a Sláger KULT-ba, ahol S. Miller Andrásnak egyebek közt azt is elárulta, hogy kifejezetten küldetésként tekint az improvizatív és kortárs műfajok, a magyar zenekultúra honi és nemzetközi interpretálásáta, a magyar művészeti értékek magas szinten történő képviseletére.

On this season finale of the Score Keepers, we’ll be speaking with jazz  and big band composer Olivia Murphy. Olivia is a British composer  focusing on a fusion of through-written and improvisational composition.  She is the leader and founder of the Olivia Murphy Jazz Orchestra – a  19-piece big band performing in London and Birmingham. The orchestra won  the Peter Whittingham Development Award in 2022 which funded a live  recorded EP. Olivia has won numerous awards including the Jazzlife  Alliance Young Composer Award, among others.
Let’s hear about her recent performance of her piece ‘Sister Suite’ at the Birmingham Jazz Festival.

This episode continues the series The Complete RCA Victor Recordings of Glenn Miller. This is Part Four from the years of 1940 - 1941. Glenn's band was really hitting it's stride then. In addition to starring in two motion pictures. Also, his band was the first to be awarded a gold record, presented by RCA Victor, for sales of 1.2 million copies. There are a few songs in this set that are not as well known but there are several that I think you will recognize and enjoy. There are two more programs in this series so for all the Glenn Miller fans I hope you enjoy the music.
