JORDAN, MTG AND JUDGE VYSKOCIL ARE HUMAN SKID MARKS - 4.20.23

EPISODE 182: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN

A-Block (1:43) Ok I'm sorry for all the scatological references; I'm just fed up. A Federalist Society judge discovered by Chump's worms sitting on a bankruptcy court has ordered that the former Assistant DA for Manhattan HAS to sit for a deposition for Jim Jordan's Dog-And-Pony-Dung-Eating show and aid Jordan's effort to wipe Trump's ass with the Constitution. Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil has the nerve to insist no one is above the law and others are playing politics. Alvin Bragg should charge her with Obstruction of Justice. It's just more evidence that we must remember the GOP - The Party of Human Skid Marks - declared war on the rest of us in 2015 and we need to stop pretending they didn't. This country must be saved from the Republicans.

B-Block (17:20) IN SPORTS: Max Scherzer of the Mets ejected for a game for allegedly using unauthorized sticky substances on his hand. Problem is: they've had this rule three years, there have only been three objections, and they've all been by the same umpire: Phil Cuzzi. We may be returning to the infamous 1998 era of "UmpShow" in which the arbiters ejected everybody they could find, including once, during a game that decided which team would go to the World Series - me. (26:07) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Nancy Mace is proud she once waitressed at Waffle House. She may be headed back there after what she said about Biden. RFK Jr makes the mistake of running for president and running on the records of his father and uncles. And OH THE HUMANITY: a Matt WalshBlog speech is terrorized by "Antifa" armed with... marbles?

C-Block (31:25) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: 39 years ago this month I packed up and moved to Boston to start my dream job, for which they - and I - had waited ten months. The job lasted... FIVE months. The anticipation is truly greater than the event!

    Ep. 035 - Jean Shepherd's A Christmas Story (1983)

What is the most watched Christmas movie of all time? I don't know but I'm willing to bet Bob Clark and Jean Shepherd's coming of age tale that is celebrating 25 year of 24 marathons is pretty high on that list. Travel back to 1940 and to the childhood Christmas memories of Mike and Trevor as they review A Christmas Story and relate it to their own upbrings and favorite Christmas memories but don't worry, no one shot their eye out!

EPISODE 27: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN 9.7.22

EPISODE 27: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN 9.7.22

    DETAIN THE NUCLEAR KLEPTOMANIAC

A BLOCK (1:47) SPECIAL COMMENT: Trump is a nuclear kleptomaniac. And per The Washington Post, the FBI recovered "a document describing a foreign government's...nuclear capabilities" he had taken to Mar-a-Lago. We do not have TIME for a Trump appointee's bought-and-paid-for delays. Judge Cannon must vacate her Special Master ruling, or the Department of Justice must ignore it, and if necessary arrest Judge Cannon as a risk to the national nuclear defense. (3:52) WHY is Trump not already in a naval brig or army stockage? WHY haven't Mar-a-Lago, Bedminster, and Trump Tower been sealed off indefinitely until we are sure he didn't stash MORE NUCLEAR DOCUMENTS THERE? (5:12) We spent the years after 9/11 listening to the Republicans warn of "loose nukes," dirty bombs, unimaginable risks - this document IS a loose nuke, it is the written equivalent of a dirty bomb, and TRUMP is the "unimaginable risk." 10:30 On August 26 Trump boasted "nothing mentioned on 'nuclear'" in the Mar-a-lago affidavit. Now 'nuclear' has been mentioned and Trump must be detained in a secure facility until we know we and our allies are safe, and then we can decide how many decades his sentence should be for.

B BLOCK (15:28) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Cider, in Atlanta (17:05) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: The Insurrection clause of the 14th Amendment is finally used to remove an officeholder; the damning video showing Sidney Powell's henchmen going in to access a Georgia voting system; the would-be Trump Attorney General Jeff Clark fails to get the bar association's punishment against him sealed. (20:35) IN SPORTS: Minor League Baseball players seem set to join Big Leaguers' union, Chicago Bears announce a new stadium just as they've done continuously since 1989, and Oakland's Dave Stewart will be honored, but not for Lucille - and how Nancy Faust figures in! (26:23) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD (26:23) As the new British Prime Minister's twitter handle, the Ohio GOP skunked by Trump, and the Proud Boy who wasn't too proud to lie, vie for the honors.

C BLOCK (31:58) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: It took a year to finally get to the sports anchor desk at WCVB Channel 5 Boston, but only six months to get the hell out. Why would you hire me to do sports if you didn't want me to tell jokes?

    Black Christmas (1974) — Episode 67

    Black Christmas (1974) — Episode 67

Holiday themed horror is fairly commonplace these days but back in the 1970’s, it was still almost taboo to crossover a beloved holiday with a truly horrific act.

Canadian screenwriter Roy Moore decided to tackle that very subject when he wrote a film based loosely on the urban legend called “The Babysitter and the Man Upstairs,” which told the story about a girl receiving a phone call warning her to check on the children she was watching only to discover the assailant was calling from inside the house. Taking that mythology along with a real life series of murders committed in Montreal,

Moore crafted a script that eventually landed in the hands of director Bob Clark. Once Clark got involved, he made a few tweaks and changes to the story and the setting.

The updated version took place on a college campus where a group of sorority girls were receiving obscene phone calls from a serial killer who was secretly knocking them off one by one while preying upon them from inside their own house.

In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to lock the doors and trace any phone calls coming into the house as we discuss the 1974 horror classic “Black Christmas”…

Cultpix Radio Ep.24 - Halloween Horror Mega Edition

Cultpix Radio Ep.24 - Halloween Horror Mega Edition

Django Nudo is a hoarse host but he and the Smut Peddler still relish the opportunity to spread some Halloween horror that Cultpix members might not be familiar with, as there is 10 films to fright and delight this week.

First there is a rant about why we are not fans of horror sequels and franchises, which is one of the reasons you will only find film made before 1990 on Cultpix (with some exceptions). So enjoy "Halloween XXVIII" in cinemas, but don't forget about the all great horror films still to be discovered. Speaking off which...

"Alice, Sweet Alice" (1976) is worth watching for more than just being Brooke Shields' big screen debut. This proto-slasher inspired by "Don't Look now" (1973) is about a disturbed young girl who may be responsible for a series of stabbings, including that of her younger sister. "Possibly the closest American relation to an Italian giallo," according to Ed Gonzalez and ranked the fourth-best slasher film of all time by Complex magazine in 2017.

"Kids Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things" (1972) sees actors go to an island where criminally insane are buried. Maybe not the best place to perform necromantic rituals that bring the dead back to life. Directed by famed horror director Bob Clark who later did "Black Christmas", "A Christmas Story", and "Porky's." A comedy-horror film that has genuinely creepy atmosphere.

"Beast of the Yellow Night" (1971) is Filipino/American horror film, which has the distinction of being on Garth's wall in "Wayne's World". Beat that for obscure pop reference!

"Blood and Lace" (1971), not to be confused with the Mario Bava "Blood and Black Lace", is an American proto-slasher that looks like it inspired "Halloween" and "Nightmare on Elm Street." Orphan teenage girl arrives in a remote orphanage run by a madwoman (Gloria Grahame, who came out of retirement for this film) and her handyman, both of them sadistic child murderers.

"Billy the Kid versus Dracula" and "Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter" (1966) were popular drive-in double bill. This rare MWU (monsters western universe) sub-genre sees gunslingers confront horror icons.  Both films were shot in eight days at Corriganville Movie Ranch and at Paramount Studios and were the final feature films of director William 'One-take' Beaudine.

"Pigs" (1973) is the first in the animals-eat-humans double-bill, with pigs developing a taste people, while "The Corpse Grinders" (1971) sees corpses used for cat food, only for kittens to develop a taste for human flesh. It also has the most gratuitous poster of all ten films.

"Monsters Crash the Pajama Party" (1965) is an interactive horror films where the monsters would come off the screen and kidnap women in the audience, who then appear on-screen. You get a good idea of what it must have been like to watch it in cinemas. Great fun form Something Weird Video.

"Besökarna/The Visitors" (1988) is that rare beast - a Swedish haunted house film, restored by the Swedish Film Institute with some impressive acting talent.

We end with the track "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things" by Finnish heavy/doom metal band Wolfshead. Happy Halloween!

    #041 - CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS (1972)

    #041 - CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS (1972)
ORVILLE FEIERT SEIN COMING-OUT...

Black Christmas - "Let me lick it"

Director Bob Clark is usually thought of for his more family friendly Xmas classic A Christmas Story, but before that he made this surprisingly brutal Christmas slasher flick! When a sorority house starts getting obscene phone calls & girls start going missing, its a race to find the killer in a sea of red herrings! A well made, well acted and super awesome Christmas horror flick!
