This week we venture back into the Wan-Verse with Poltergeist for Gen Z - INSIDIOUS (2010). A little boy makes contact with the other world and is left in what seems like a coma. With the help of a medium his father makes his way to the other side to help him defeat a monster we can only describe as the ghost of Darth Maul.

One of our favorite cute boys, ELIJAH WOOD,  steps into the killer role in this update of the iconic slasher film -  MANIAC (2012). Set in the seedy parts of the newly gentrified downtown Los Angeles & playing on the fears of online dating this update is a bloody good time!

We continue our "Cute Boy Killer" round with a  boy who grew up under the microscope of a camera that eventually becomes his weapon of choice in PEEPING TOM (1960). We follow Mark (Karlheinz Böhm) as he navigates falling in love vs. his insatiable need to capture authentic fear on camera. A cinematic masterpiece from the team that brought us THE RED SHOES (1948) lead by director Michael Powell.

One of our favorite characters finally gets wonderfully rewarded with his very own movie - and a full length episode from us - RENFIELD (2023)! Our adorable sidekick is trying to break free from the shackles of his toxic relationship with his master, Dracula & ends up entangled with a police officer, a mafia family & victim support group. This film is a delightfully joyous film - that would only be improved if they left in that dance number!

We are so grateful for our wonderful Sound Editor & Producer Sierra Rein! Our next round of films are Sierra's films that she's requested! We start off with a hunk of Bacon, Kevin Bacon that is in 1999's STIR OF ECHOES. 

This is an adaptation of a novel by Richard Matheson that gives us a very Stephen King "Shining" vibe...we discuss what came first and how maybe time is actually a circle, just like Ka.

The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane - "This is My House!"

This  week we celebrate the talented Jodie Foster who gives a powerhouse performance in THE LITTLE GIRL WHO LIVES DOWN THE LANE (1976). This films brings up the themes of personhood, ageism, ableism and misogyny as this "little girl" tries to survive, presumably on her own, in a hardened New England town.  

Filmed the same year as Taxi Driver, Bugsy Malone & Freaky Friday - proving Jodie Foster was the hardest working kid from 1975-1976!

In Troma studio fashion this film is riddled with gore and pushes the limits to offend any and everyone on the planet. Not for the faint of heart! 

Excited to revisit this classic that has been sequeled into multiple iterations and is about to get a big studio style remake this next year! 

The Ring vs. Ringu - "7 Days"

Double, double, toil and trouble we are tackling a double feature for you this week -  a face off between the J-Horror classic and the American remake!!! Join us as we compare and contrast THE RING (2002) vs.  RINGU (1998)! 

The ultimate word of mouth death experience...films about the lengths people will go for the sake of family. 

The Witch - "I Will Guide Thy Hand" 

This week we head into the woods with THE WITCH (2015)! A chilling  account of a family of outcasts attempting to survive outside of the walls of their New England settlement was brilliantly written and directed by Robert Eggers. 

The film has a stellar cast lead by Ralph Ineson & Kate Dickie as Puritanical zealot parents  features Anya Taylor-Joy in her breakout performance. Inspired by historical records from the era this family must endure a crucible of terrors.

Saw - "Perverted Little Psychopath" 

We are tackling some "horror blockbusters" for you this month as we countdown to Halloween! We are kicking off this round with James Wan's jigsaw juggernaut... SAW (2004). 

A killer obsessed with puzzles and on a mission to make people truly appreciate being alive...by making them make the most torturous choices. Starring Cary Elwes, as we wish, Danny Glover and the co-writer Leigh Whannell in the ultimate escape room movie!
