Do you want to spend more time reading but aren’t sure what book to start with? Or are you a voracious reader looking for your next page-turner?

Whether you’re a bonafide bookworm or a bookworm in the making, the WE SHOULD ALL BE BOOKWORMS podcast is your bi-weekly source of information on magnetic books that have universal appeal — books that will resonate with you and connect with you in a deep way — no matter who you are or where you’re from.

In each episode, host Mykella Palmer, budding novelist and bonafide bookworm, will introduce you to one remarkable book. This might be an award-winning book, a classic book, or a best-selling book from any genre. Or this might be a lesser-known book, a personal treasure that she’s excited to share. By the end of the show, you’ll be ready to pick up each book confident that you’ll have an enjoyable reading experience.

Reading is one of the best things you can do in your day. It reduces stress, exercises your brain, and builds knowledge and empathy. Habitual reading not only changes your life but has the power to change the world. Whether you’ve just finished reading your 33rd book so far this year, or you don’t even remember the last time you read a book — this podcast is for you. In fact, if we can change the world one book at a time, then we should all be bookworms.

280 - “Ode to Books” by Nefertiti DiCosmo

Nefertiti is a poet, artist, and scientist. She currently works as a life scientist for the government.

    A Statement from Nefertiti:

"Books are tangible hope and this piece serves as my “thank you note” for this medium of expression, as well as to all those who write, publish, illustrate, and sell them. Also, it can be hard for people who prefer real books to explain why that is exactly. I hope my fellow bibliophiles feel heard with this piece and share it with anyone who dares wonder why you prefer the real deal."

Created during a time of quarantine in the global Coronavirus pandemic, A Moment Of Your Time’s mission is to provide a space for expression, collaboration, community and solidarity. In this time of isolation, we may have to be apart but let’s create together.

E64: Jay Abbasi - Sharing Mindfulness with the world

E64: Jay Abbasi - Sharing Mindfulness with the world

    In Jay's own words:

In 2014, my father passed away suddenly from a heart attack. It was devastating. I also had a large amount of credit card debt, my job paid me decently but I didn’t love what I did, and my marriage was falling apart...

I started reading everything I could about how to deal with the grief, get out of this rut and turn my life around. What I learned to develop was a skill that changed my life completely.

    The skill is self-observation 🧐.

I learned to look OBJECTIVELY at how I operate.

    💡How I think 🤔
    💡How I feel 😨
    💡How I behave 🏃‍♂️

I learned to understand WHY I do the things I do, and how to change my behavior.

By developing this skill, I learned how to:

    Be resilient 💪
    Perform better 📈
    Lead better 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♂️🚴‍♂️
    Work better with others 🚣‍♀️🚣‍♂️🚣‍♀️🚣‍♂️

The practice I learned to develop self-observation is MINDFULNESS (hence the headline 🧐😊).

Mindfulness has been the one practice that turned my life around.

🌟 I joined Tesla and in under 4 years worked my way up to running Sales Training at a national level 📈.

    🌟 I started a business📝.

    🌟 I'm in a happy and healthy relationship ❤.

🌟 I’m in the best shape of my life 💪.

My mission is to bring mindfulness to the workplace where it is so desperately needed with companies struggling with...

Employee burnout & high turnover rates 🚨
    Low sales/performance numbers 📉
    Leadership challenges 😖

Skeptical that mindfulness produces results? I get ya. It can sound fluffy, so here’s the data if you’re the analytical type 📊...

Aetna implemented a mindfulness program and the results speak for themselves.

💥 28% reduction in employee stress levels!
💥 62 additional minutes of productivity per week per employee!
💥 👆 is estimated to be worth $3,000 per employee per year!
💥 7.3% drop in medical claims amounting to $9 million in savings!

Google, General Mills, and Intel have been utilizing mindfulness programs for over 10 years to reduce stress, increase productivity, and spark creativity.

If any of that👆speaks to you, let's connect. For more info on what I do/offer, let’s schedule a quick call.

The truth is that numbers never lie and that is a lie...

Mark chats about all that money he is making at the hospital from declaring patients "COVID-19 patients" (not true), Stephen talks about how numbers are about as trustworthy as the internet in general without context, and Matt uses stick figure drawings to help explain the polarity of opinion about the pandemic.
