As an 80’s relic with a distain for all things 80’s I wax poetic on the appeal of two things I love to  hate,  Halloween and 80’s themes!
Despite my general disdain for the 80s and Halloween, you'll find out why this particular combination of the decade and the holiday holds a unique charm. One this fun filled Bonus episode I put my pride aside for the sake of the Mild Child and present you with a non-nightmare inducing range of films from the 80’s.

We discuss the terror of" Little Shop of Horror" along with the menacing undertones of David Bowie’s "Labyrinth".

We tiptoe through the world of deceased and rabid Pets with" Pet Cemetery" and "Cujo" and relive my second grade insomnia via" Killer Clowns'' from Outer Space".

I’ll discuss why cute boys are the cure for horror film phobia and  I’ll give you the perfect 80’s Halloween film’ filled with fun, folly and of course terrible 80’s hair/ clothing.

The People Under the Stairs is one of those movies many of us saw too young. It was probably because we all wanted to be Brandon Adams. This 1991 American horror comedy, written and directed by Wes Craven, is full of heavy racial and socio-economical commentary, which makes for a very interesting experience for our characters of color. Also, what's up with those people under the stairs? Why are they... like... monsters? 

On Episode 159, I drive up to Turkey, Texas, and record a super-casual and relaxed conversation with Lubbock songwriters Brandon Adams, Daniel Markham, Dave Martinez, and Charlie Stout.

Brandon Adams is a high-stakes cash game player who now resides in Miami, but in the last 18 months, the 39-year-old has done quite well on the high roller tournament circuit. Adams finished second in the 2017 Aussie Millions $25,000 event, third in the 2017 Hard Rock Poker Open $25,000 event, first in the $50,000 Poker Masters event and most recently, he won another $25,000 event at the Hard Rock Poker Showdown. Adams now has $3 million in live tournament earnings.

Adams has also written three books, including Broke: A Poker Novel and Personal Organization For Degenerates. He has gambled for hundreds of thousands of dollars in big prop bets, and faced off against some of the best players in the world, even while teaching game theory courses at Harvard University in his spare time.
