On this special Podcast of Behind the Mitten, John Gonzalez and Amy Sherman talk to longtime friend Carla Flanders of the Lakeshore Art Festival, which takes place June 25-26, 2022, in Muskegon.

The annual event is a unique and artful experience, featuring a blend of fine art, handcrafted goods, music, food and fun in beautiful downtown Muskegon.

To add the excitement, the festival will host international street artist David Zinn, who will create 8-10 pieces of art throughout the Lakeshore Art Festival footprint. Festival guests are encouraged to scout out and find each of the pieces of art as a fun scavenger-hunt type of exploration.

One piece will be a permanent art piece that will add to the already vibrant public art collection that downtown Muskegon has to offer. To accompany David Zinn on his quest to find art in everything (even little cracks in the sidewalk), the festival invites the community to take part in the PADNOS Public Art Project on June 25 from 4-6 p.m. Anyone and everyone can get creative and “Chalk-the-Walk” along Western Avenue within the festival footprint. Sometimes our bodies, our mind, our lives put a halt on the activities we feel we "just have to do" at all cost. But that cost could end up being a price too high to pay. Taking a necessary break isn't a setback, it's the opportunity to come back, strong!

We can be a part of diminishing our value. We can even allow our surrounding circumstances to have a say in how much we are worth. What does God have to say about that?

Relating with people is so important. Sometimes a few bad connections get in the mix. When you become aware of this, don't the ignore the red flags. Confront it, and if there is no change, make a decision!

So many times, we put advice out, we instruct, and we educate. Although this helps others in various ways, we cannot be "heros" for others and we ourselves remain lost. Let me ask you this, "Have you taken your own advice?"

Relax! You've been here before. Face it, stand strong, take a deep breath because..."You've got this."

When we use absolutes in our communication one with another, especially during discord, this further complicates the issue. Let's strengthen our conversations so that we can achieve better results.

You already have the plan, stop with your procrastination, stop holding up your success, kick doubt and fear in its "face" and go get it. It is time!

Sometimes we get sooo upset 😡, Disagreements here, misunderstandings there, UGH! Maybe you need to stop, drop it (for now), and Walk it off. However, keep a door open to resolve this.
