    Ep 80: Toy Story 4

Ken and Gar join Woody, Buzz and the gang for one last adventure this week in their review of Toy Story 4 first released in 2019. The brothers cap off their series on Pixar's original and most famous franchise by breaking down how each installment continues to deliver the very best of animated storytelling, bucking the trend of diminishing returns for sequels.

Featuring  a cover of "You've Got A Friend In Me" from the Toy Story franchise by Magic by Design's resident singer, Nicole McDonagh. We hereby declare that we do not own the rights to this music/song(s). All rights belong to the owner. No copyright infringement intended.

    A Clockwork Orange

    A Clockwork Orange
In honor of the film's forthcoming golden anniversary, this week's subject has us grappling with the celebrated auteurism of Stanley Kubrick and his iconoclastic vision of a dystopian future, 1971's A Clockwork Orange. But first...the Blue Plate Special forces us to confront an even more alarming cultural product: the forthcoming presence of a Buzz Lightyear origin story. Seriously, why??? Thankfully, a new segment-within-a-segment allows the two of us to fan the flames of some recent cinematic line-reading obsessions we have indeed deemed worthy of your undivided attention: i.e. things we've been burning on (shout out to friend of the pod Jim Rome), Upon finally journeying through the sickening path of destruction wrought by today's subject film, we situate A Clockwork Orange within the wider spectrum of all things Kubrick, attempt to engage with the deceptively facile binary of anarchism or fascism such a satire attempts to suggest, and compare the film to the many other cinematic acts of nihilism shockingly routine and welcome in the larger cultural moment of 1971. Star Man

    Star Man

Well, I'm back at it again. Would you believe me, if I said I had this done a week ago? Well, I did,  but didn't want to screw up my "every other Friday" rotation. I guess you could say S2 is themed base. I've been rewatching Blade Runner/2049 over and over again lately. Same goes for Star Wars, so you may call me "Star Man", if we cross paths this summer. Highly unlikely to happen though, seeing as I only climb out of my cave during obscure hours of the day.

Series 2, Episode 8: To Infinity and the Great Beyond

Series 2, Episode 8: To Infinity and the Great Beyond

Most of the voices we hear in our day-to-day lives are anonymous. They tell us to put our shopping in the bag, or to stand clear of the doors please. In Hollywood movies, though, the voices we hear are often famous faces as well as voices, with their life stories splashed across headlines around the world. So, talking to people like them is not the point of this podcast. We like to tell the stories of the voices we recognise, but don't actually know.

One voice that's been heard across Hollywood is the one belonging to Javier Fernández-Peña, who isn't a household name by any means, but his voice is known to millions as the one belonging to Buzz Lightyear when he suddenly turned Spanish in Toy Story 3.

While Javier's character delighted families across the world, the man behind the voice talks about how drug addiction changed his family life forever, and the messages he's since received from the great beyond.
