    An Illegal Floating City

    An Illegal Floating City

Fishermen dying mysteriously off the coast of Japan. Entire populations of sea animals disappearing. Despite decades of work by the international community, the high seas remain law enforcement’s biggest blind spot, and the site of environmental crimes whose effects reach around the world. But some people are attempting to stop these crimes: We follow the investigations of two private-citizen sleuths, one using satellites to expose massive but previously untraceable illegal fleets, another using spycraft to infiltrate a criminal network of poachers and smugglers operating on both sides of the Pacific Ocean.

This episode features Sara Mitchell, professor of political science at the University of Iowa; as well as Jaeyoon Park of Global Fishing Watch and Andrea Crosta, founder and Executive Director of Earth League International.

Episode 49: Halloween 2022- The Haunted Eliza Battle

The Eliza Battle was a Tombigbee River steamboat that ran a route between Columbus, Mississippi and Mobile, Alabama in the United States during the 1850s. She was destroyed in a fire on the river near modern Pennington, Alabama on March 1, 1858. It was the greatest maritime disaster in Tombigbee River history, with an estimated thirty-three people killed, out of roughly sixty passengers and a crew of forty-five.  Her tragic end now haunts the Tombigbee River on cold spring nights.

A look at the mysterious disappearance of all ten crew members and passengers of the Mary Celeste in 1872. Halfway between the Azores and Portugal, a brigantine carrying alcohol bound for Italy was found floating adrift by another ship, completely empty of people - a Ghost Ship. Top Gun: Maverick VS The Mary Celeste

Top Gun: Maverick VS The Mary Celeste

According to Caleb, Top Gun: Maverick is one of the best movies of all time. Why? Mostly the cinematic and technical wizardry that had to happen to make it work.
According to Josiah, the Mary Celeste is a mystery that is easily solved if you take into account that sea monsters may be more careful and ferocious than you thought.
According to both Caleb and Josiah, you GOT to listen to this episode

TPPP 42: Ghost Ship: The Lady Lovibond

Ghost ship month is roaring through these ghostly seas. We're finding ourselves this month in the English Channel and the ship, The Lady Lovibond. A wedding party set out one day, right before Valentine's day, but they never did make it home. The history is intense, the Goodwin sands are killer, and the paranormal stories are incredibly cyclical in the weirdest way.

Tune in this wee to hear Lisa tell us all about the amount of ships that have lost themselves to everyone's biggest childhood fear, quicksand, to hear Jake tell us about ghost ships that continue to haunt this area and scare fisher people, and Davis regale us with more questions and commercials dealing with a new science fiction spaceship. All of that, plus some more. We even get into sailor tattoos for a little bit.

TPPP 41: Ghost Ships: The Mary Celeste

TPPP 41: Ghost Ships: The Mary Celeste

It's the next block of paranormal location, and that means it's Ghost Ships Month! And we start with a major doozy. The Mary Celeste is a real or true ghost ship, one that actually is classified as such by sailor and maritime laws. That means it was a ship that was out on the ocean without a crew on it. But what happened to the crew? That's a great question that we attempt to answer.

The history of this ship is all around its curse. One that is well-documented by the annals of history. Many crews had some terrible things happen on this ship before it finally ended up becoming a ghost ship. The paranormal surrounds the conspiracies that came in the late 1800s around what happened to this ship. Including one by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the man who created Sherlock himself. And the games and commercial all surround a new theme as well, one of spaceships from different series.

You don't want to miss this episode and the rest of ghost month, so listen to The Possibly Paranormal Podcast!
