Join us as we uncover the complexities of faith, persecution, and God's divine plan through this mesmerizing narrative.

Acts 24 revolves around Paul's trial before Felix, the Roman governor, where the Jewish leaders accuse Paul of being a troublemaker. Paul presents a strong defense, emphasizing his innocence and stating that he serves God with a clear conscience. Felix postpones the decision but keeps Paul in custody for two years, hoping for a bribe. The chapter highlights the tension between Paul and the Jewish leaders, shedding light on the complexities of the Roman legal system and showcasing Paul's steadfastness in faith amid adversity.

Acts 25 continues with Paul's trial, now before Festus, Felix's successor as governor. The Jewish leaders present their accusations, but Paul insists on his innocence and appeals to Caesar, exercising his right as a Roman citizen. Festus, perplexed by the case, seeks King Agrippa's counsel, who expresses interest in hearing Paul. The chapter reveals the political intrigue surrounding Paul's case and showcases his unwavering commitment to spreading the message of Christ, even amidst legal challenges.

Acts 26 showcases Paul's defense before King Agrippa. He recounts his life, conversion, and mission to preach the Gospel. Paul passionately shares his encounter with Jesus and emphasizes the resurrection. His testimony impacts Agrippa, who acknowledges Paul's innocence but cannot release him due to the appeal to Caesar. This chapter highlights Paul's boldness in proclaiming the Gospel and depicts his unwavering commitment to his faith despite the trials and opposition he faces in the Roman legal system.

Unclean - The Book of Acts

In this Bible Story, Peter discovers that the kingdom of God is expanding to more than just the Jews. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.

Today's Bible verse is Acts 11:9 from the King James Version.

Episode 225: In Caesarea, there was a centurion named Cornelius. He was a good man and a God-fearing man, but he was also a Roman gentile. He prayed to God daily and sought to do good to those who were less fortunate. His prayers were heard by God, and God told him in a dream to send for a man named Peter who was staying in Joppa. At the same time, Peter was praying and in a vision experienced a message from God about calling anything unclean or common. When the men sent by Cornelius arrived, he went with them, and when the whole party arrived at the house of Cornelius, Peter saw what God was trying to tell him. He then obediently preached the message of Jesus to Cornelius’ entire household. All of Cornelius’ family and friends came to believe in Jesus and were baptized.

Now is the day of salvation - Audio

Now is the day of salvation - Audio
Paul appears in front of the governor, Felix, who has some knowledge of "The Way" and is interested in the gospel. However, when Paul begins to tell him and his wife, Drusilla, about the way of salvation, and about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix became afraid. He told Paul to leave and that he'd like to hear more at a "more convenient time," a dangerous decision.

What Does the Bible Say About Jesus' Resurrection #2?

What Does the Bible Say About Jesus' Resurrection #2?

Arnie and Fred continue their discussion of what the Bible says about Jesus' resurrection in this second and last episode. We begin by noting that Jesus foretold of His upcoming resurrection on numerous occasions such as in the Temple, in Galilee, near Caesarea Philippi and at the Last Supper. We discuss each of those occasions at length. The apostles declared Jesus' resurrection numerous times as they preached the gospel. We talk about several of those occasions.  We complete this episode by noting that Jesus' resurrection testifies to His deity, reconciles believers to God, is linked to our baptism, assures our own resurrection, and proves Jesus' authority as the final judge. We discuss each of these at length. Take about 30-minutes to listen in on our discussion. Have your Bible handy so you can verify what we are saying. Sufferings of an Exile - Audio

Sufferings of an Exile - Audio
Suppose someone, instead of gluing themself before the TV or computer screen or phone and ingesting tons of Fox News, Newsmax, CNN, or whatever people watch, that this person instead lived for the day that another country that was indeed their true "home away from home" became accessible? What if their emotions, their heartstrings, everything they were and are was immersed in that other country? Indeed, no matter what happened here, in this country. War. Evil. Suffering. What if this person found their solace, comfort, and indeed hope in that one day they might return to that country from which they were currently in exile?

Halfway there! Cornelius sends for Peter - Audio

Halfway there! Cornelius sends for Peter - Audio
In Caesarea a centurion named Cornelius, a devout and God-fearing man, was told in a vision to send for Peter, in Joppa. At the same time, Peter had a vision of all kinds of animals in a sheet, and God told him to eat. Peter protested since most were unclean to the Jews, but God said He had made everything clean. While still thinking about the vision, Cornelius' friends came for Peter, and God told him to go with them. Arriving in Caesarea, Peter understood that God had torn the walls down between Jew and Gentile, and that's what the vision was about. He explained Jesus to Cornelius and his household - all believed, were filled with the Holy Spirit and were baptized.

On the coast half way between Jaffa and Haifa are the ruins of the ancient port city of Caesarea Maritima. It was built by King Herod the Great about 2000 years ago. He named it Caesarea to honor the Roman emperor Ceasar Augstus. He built a harbor with a very advanced breakwater in the sea, made of pozzolana, volcanic ash mixed with limestone. He had the typical Roman city built with cardo, decumanus, Roman theater, hippodrome, bath houses and a big Temple dedicated to Augustus.

The city grew in Byzantine times and became much larger. It was an important center of Christian theology and had a big library of manuscripts.

In the Muslim era that followed Caesarea was not very important because the Arab rulers did not focus on sea trade and the port cities. The city was rebuilt by the Crusaders and until today you can see some of the massive walls, towers and a beautiful late Crusader time gate in gothic style, built by the French King Louis the ninth.

The Mamluks destroyed Ceasarea. During late Ottoman time a group of Bosnian refugees resettled close to the Crusader tower fortress and a fishing village of 960 people was found near the beach until Zionist militias killed a number of villagers and forcibly displaced the rest.

The area has been turned into a National Park with a large number of holiday resorts and hotels in the vicinity.

What Does The Bible Say About Luke The Beloved Physician?

What Does The Bible Say About Luke The Beloved Physician?

In this episode, Arnie and Fred discuss what the Bible says about Luke who is referred to as "the beloved physician" in Colossians 4 verse 14.  We note that he is one of the most prominent disciples of the early gospel age, but he is very inconspicuous in the writings of the New Testament of which he wrote 2 books. However, his name  does not appear in either the book of Luke or Acts which he wrote. There is little known about Luke except that which is contained in seven passages: 4 in the "we" sections of the book of Acts and 3 times where Paul references him in his writings. In our discussion, we summarize those passages noting who he was with, where he was and what was being done there. We talk about the fact that Luke was a Gentile who had obeyed the gospel. He was intelligent and educated, accepted by men of rank and dignity. We note that he was not a witness of Jesus and what He had done.  He is among the number Jesus referred to in John 20, verse 29.  It is evident that Luke grew rapidly as a Christian after he obeyed the gospel. Paul had full confidence leaving him at Philippi to continue the work of teaching the gospel unattended. We end our episode at this point. We will take up this discussion in the next episode.  In the mean time, listen in on our 30 minute discussion and have your Bible handy so you can verify what the Bible says about Luke. There is a transcription provided for your convenience in following our discussion.
