FND Dimensions aims to develop a network of ‘peer support groups’ across the UK either in face to face meetings or online via methods such as Skype. By bringing people together on a regular basis, this helps alleviate the isolation that many FND patients feel. It also gives  opportunity  for others to open up dialog and to talk to others in a similar position about the day to day challenges, issues or concerns with one another.

COVID-19 voices from the frontline - the carer

COVID-19 voices from the frontline - the carer

Penney is a carer, supporting vulnerable adults in their own homes. Many of those she visits are fearful and anxious, yet there has been an increase the support and compassion being given by the wider community. At a time when we are supposed to be socially isolating, it is a real challenge to be the one going into people's homes, even to do essential care work. How does her faith give her courage and hope in the situation?

When You Realise Your Parents Aren't Bulletproof

When You Realise Your Parents Aren't Bulletproof

There is a stage in everyone’s life where you realise your parents are not bulletproof.

For some of us that comes when our mum or dad starts forgetting things or when they go through a period of unexpected turmoil. But for many of us, it often comes when a parent suddenly becomes unwell.

When journalist, author and screenwriter Amal Awad’s father was diagnosed with kidney failure, she made a surprising decision that changed so much for them and for her.

In this episode, she joins Mia Freedman to talk about how, if we ever are going to truly get to know our parents, as people… it is going to happen in adulthood.

Could You Love And Care For Someone Else's Children?

Luke and Samantha Gillett's children had just emerged from their most time consuming phase when they decided to start again from the beginning. Almost. When they realised they had more time on their hands now their girls were teenagers, they decided they had the capacity to help children who needed respite foster care. And so they opened their homes to many different children. They explain the challenges with fostering, and why for them, it's all worthwhile.
