Episode #10 Mental Health. An enlightening talk With Psychotherapist Mr James Finn.

Mental health and mental health awareness is something I'm so very passionate about especially in men. Today I'm joined in the studio by Mr Finn and we discuss how some men find it hard to open up and talk about there feelings. We talk about anxiety, low self esteem, depression and the link between testosterone and aggression.  As we all know that self talk we have can be destructive so lets talk and today we only scratched the surface so James will be back. Oh every guest in the studio has to take on the golden disk and hold it out as long as possible .... lets see how he did!!!!
I really hope this podcast helps.

37: Over-reactions: How to not overreact.

Nobody likes blowing a fuse when their teen does something that triggers them, but we all do it at some point.

Nicky asked us to discuss this topic after she felt she'd overreacted to bad feedback from her son's teachers. We know it fixes nothing and leaves us feeling worse than before, but can we keep smoothing it over with an apology?

Long term we run the risk of ruining our connection with our teens because they learn that the best way to manage us parent is to keep quiet, hide, or lie to prevent a repeat,

So how can we stop ourselves from overreacting? We talk through some mindfulness techniques that could make all the difference.

Saving Great Apes Beyond Sanctuary Walls with PASA Director Kelly O'Meara | S2E25

Saving Great Apes Beyond Sanctuary Walls with PASA Director Kelly O'Meara | S2E25

Decades of losing. Losing forest habitat, losing primate populations, and losing in our efforts to educate politicians, the public, and policy-makers.

Most critically, we are losing great apes by the thousands each year.

On Giving Day for Apes we talk with PASA's new director, Kelly O'Meara, about how PASA's 23 member primate sanctuaries across Africa are much more than caring arms for the victims of the illegal wildlife trade.

While the sanctuaries are faced with the responsibility of providing lifelong care to the floods of baby chimps, gorillas, and bonobos that show up at their gates, they are also key stakeholders in the conservation conversation - owed to their unique positioning amidst the local surroundings, communities, and cultures.

Kelly tells us how PASA acts as a representative for its members and as a voice that raises their importance in protecting not only the individuals in their care but the wild populations beyond their walls too.

Let's Talk Wild EP 7 - New Research: Prosocial Behavior, Wild Chimpanzees Apply Insects To Their Wounds

Let's Talk Wild EP 7 - New Research: Prosocial Behavior, Wild Chimpanzees Apply Insects To Their Wounds

A volunteer for the Ozouga Chimpanzee Project has documented the first sighting of wild chimpanzees using and applying insects to their wounds. Some believe that chimpanzees are showing prosocial behavior seen outside of the human species. They're showing actions that benefit each other like humans empathizing with each other, but this topic is still up for debate among researchers. In this week's episode: Let's Talk Wild EP 7 - New Research: Prosocial Behavior, Wild Chimpanzees Apply Insects To Their Wounds, I'll give you guys the updated research notes and my thoughts.

Traditions and tool use among Bili-Uéré chimpanzees

Traditions and tool use among Bili-Uéré chimpanzees

Dr Cleve Hicks from the University of Warsaw in Poland has been observing a special group of chimpanzees that have developed their own customs and traditions.

Despite the logistical difficulties involved in reaching a remote part of DR Congo , as well as the ever-present threat of malaria and the dangers of armed conflict, Hicks and his team managed to document how these chimpanzees live – including tool making, feeding habits and sleeping style.

    Jane Goodall: A Dedicated Pursuit

    Jane Goodall: A Dedicated Pursuit

As a girl in England, Jane Goodall dreamed of traveling to Africa to study animals in the wild. In 1960, that dream brought her to Tanzania, to observe the wild chimpanzees at Gombe Stream Park. As she describes in this episode, other scientists did not believe that a young woman could survive alone in the bush, but Jane Goodall did more than survive. Her work revolutionized the field of primatology. She was the first to document chimpanzees making and using tools, an activity that had been thought exclusively humans. Over the years she also witnessed cooperative hunting and altruism, but also brutality and even warfare among chimps. Her work, the longest continuous field study of any living creature, has given us deep insights into the evolution of our own species. Since the 1980's, she has devoted herself single-mindedly to educating the public worldwide about the connections between animal welfare, the environment, and human progress.
