Today, we continue our journey through Lent. As we journey forward, inspiring others, we must continue  to look for ways that God is moving in our midst. As we question the motivation of God in our own life, we must remember the vision of God's Love, and how it feeds and nourishes us. What nourishes your Spirit? How will you feed or nourish others with God's Love?

Ep 41. Anna Josse, Founder & CEO Prism the Gift Fund: The Joy of Giving, without the hassle of admin!
“Gift Aid, yes people know about it (but) they still dont understand it… there is about £750m unclaimed in Gift Aid every year, split between smaller charities unable to claim or dont have the skills to do it and higher rate tax-payers not really understanding … how they could be claiming an additional 25% on the gross (donation) in their tax returns.” Our guest today is Anna Josse, Founder and CEO of Prism the Gift Fund. Prism is a UK-based charity that is changing the face of philanthropy. Prism’s mission is to increase the flow of funds into the charitable sector, through creating efficiencies in the process of giving. Prism offers a unique and straight-forward alternative to setting up a charitable foundation, enabling donors to give tax-efficiently without the administrative hassle. Since its inception in 2005, Prism has facilitated over £550m in donations to thousands of charities across the world. In this episode, we dive into the different services offered by Prism, including Donor Advised Funds and Collective Funds. We explore how their innovative approach is revolutionising mid to high level giving in the UK, and also discuss the rise of the Philanthropy Paradox. Anna shares her insights on how the UK charity sector can learn from the American approach to philanthropy, as well as her vision for making philanthropy accessible to all. Recorded February 2023.

The Audacity of Choosing Love with Guest Scarlett Lewis

The Audacity of Choosing Love with Guest Scarlett Lewis

Scarlett Lewis is the mom of little 6-year old Jesse Lewis who was murdered in the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in 2012. At six years old, Jesse, alongside 19 of his first-grade classmates and six educators, died. Yet law enforcement says Jesse used his final moments to heroically save nine of his friends.

Before his death, Jesse left a message on their kitchen chalkboard, “Norturting Hellin Love” (Nurturing, Healing Love). When Scarlett learned that these words are included in the definition of “compassion” across all cultures, she realized that love, connection, and belonging are universal wants and needs that connect all of humanity.

Shortly after his death, Scarlett decided to be part of the solution to the issues that we’re seeing in our society today—and that also caused the tragedy. She created the Choose Love Movement and became an advocate for character development and social and emotional learning (SEL), which teaches children how to manage their emotions, feel connected, and have healthy relationships.

Ep. 29: Shungudzo - the Free Soul and Fighting for Love

Ep. 29: Shungudzo - the Free Soul and Fighting for Love

Tori has the pleasure to speak with an emerging, compassionate love champion. A true champion of the spirit. She is a proud Zimbabwean singer-songwriter, philanthropist, activist, storyteller, gymnast and television personality. Using words as weapons of love, her 2021 debut album "I'm not a mother, but I have children," is about the responsibility she feels to build a better world for future generations of all living things. From being Zimbabwe's first Black woman gymnast at the All-Africa Games, to being a cast member on Real World: San Diego and working with MTV as a host and correspondent, she's accomplished a lot in a short amount of time and is just getting started.

She is a radical thinker who delivers revolutionary messages while making people dance and celebrate life. With "It’s a Good Day (to Fight the System)" - her song that debuted on Netflix's hit show "The Chair" starring Sandra Oh - she hopes it brings some joy into whatever fight you’re fighting. As she says, "After all, what we’re fighting for IS joy — the joy of a life whose fullest potential can be reached without hitting, or being hit by, systemic roadblocks." To her song, "To be me" - a song of empowerment for anyone who has "felt unsafe in their skin, body, identity or expression." Her ambition through her music is to gain an influential platform to affect fundamental social, educational and political changes in her home country, and on behalf of displaced and disenchanted youth around the globe. Ultimately, this icon in the making wants us to choose love.

"Here's To Life" welcomes the proud, compassionate, and free soul...  Shungudzo.

“We're at this point in our lives where life has given us this torch and it's our responsibility to decide what happens next.” - Shungudzo

Episode 10: Change Ya Attitude, Change Ya Life!

Episode 10: Change Ya Attitude, Change Ya Life!

Here's the thing, the reality is life offers us blessings and curses, good and evil. But guess what, even with that, it is still our CHOICE and responsibility to choose good if that is what we want to have. Our choices have consequences and today I pray that you CHOOSE WELL! CHOOSE GOOD THOUGHTS. CHOOSE BLESSINGS! CHOOSE ABUNDANCE. CHOOSE HAPPINESS. CHOOSE LOVE. CHOOSE GOD! How you choose to feel and be directly impacts your moods and your everyday thoughts. Today, we are going to THINK WELL! Although we do not always have the power to change unpleasant circumstances in our lives, we do have the power to change our outlook. I don't know about you, but one of things I want out of this earthly life is to be happy. I want to enjoy it. But I would be lying if I didn't admit that there were a better part of my days that I wasted because I thought that my joy and enjoyment came from my circumstances. So if my circumstances were off, so was my joy. But then my spirit caught hold to one of my favorite encouraging scriptures that you will here me reference very often, Romans 8:28, for we know that God causes everything to work together for the GOOD of those who love him and are called according to his purpose. Once I locked in on that guys, I realized, this storm can't kill me. This burden can't weigh me down. This circumstance isn't my end all be all. There is GOOD on the other side of this! There is GOOD on the other side! So, I changed my attitude and I vowed to let that change my life! I encourage you to do the same! - D. Michele

    S1EP52 I Choose Love

    S1EP52 I Choose Love

Today I celebrate my one year anniversary of doing this podcast!

I thought it would be a good time to share, as openly and honestly as possible, a time where I wasn't as graceful or loving - I let my frustrations and anger run the show. If I would have remembered "What Would Love Do?" that day may have turned out very differently for both myself and those around me.

Whether you are a long-time listener or brand new, I thank you for tuning in and Happy International Women's Day!

    Sending you so much love!

P.S. I've shared a lot about what has happened to my family and I over the past year, the lessons learned and the practices that helped through it all - so today, why not go back over some of those podcasts that you may have missed?

    CHOOSE LOVE

    CHOOSE LOVE

Today Jan and Larissa talk about loving someone who attacks you with hatred.  Is it possible to love someone like that?  We can choose love in the middle of a hate attack.  We all have a choice.  Will we allow ourselves to be overcome with those that hate, or will we choose love?

    About Brave Enough:
Brave Enough is here to remind you, you’re not alone and that you have the strength to be Brave Enough for one more day.

We want to join you in everyday life to bring you laughter, joy and friendship. To talk about, well, whatever is on our minds (and yours). We want to tackle the things that women face everyday … the good, the bad and the ugly ...

When you add one simple word to Brave, it changes the very meaning … by definition Brave Enough means ... to endure or face unpleasant conditions or behavior without showing fear as required for that situation.

Just enough bravery for one minute, one hour, one day, one obstacle at a time.

    About Us:
Larissa Johnson: I’m the proud mamma of the one and only perfect Marley. My world is her; I love being her mommy, and we are always out exploring. I have faced struggles in my life that I have not let define me, but they have made me the strong independent woman I am today. I enjoy college football, specifically my Ohio State Buckeyes! If it has to do with Star Wars, Pirates, Marvel or Disney, it is a safe bet with me. Horses and barrel racing hold a special place in my heart. [LEARN MORE]

Jan Sherman: Being a mom to my son Brandon and two step-children is the best job in the world!  I also have three grandchildren that I am incredibly proud of.  My husband, Tim, and I have two Yorkies who are a part of our family and travel everywhere with us.  My heart is full!  I love football, NASCAR, and soccer, and enjoy hiking, kayaking, biking, and snowshoeing.  That fresh air keeps me young – LOL! Biography

Scarlett Lewis founded the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement after her son was murdered in the Sandy Hook tragedy in December 2012. After his death, Scarlett became part of the solution to the issues in today’s society. Through Choose Love, Scarlett became an advocate for social and emotional learning (SEL) and character development that teaches children how to manage their emotions, feel connected, and have healthy relationships. Choose Love offers a no cost, comprehensive SEL program

that empowers educators and teaches children how to handle adversity, have courageous conversations, and respond with love. The program has been downloaded in all 50 states and 100 countries, serving nearly 2 million children.

To help children and adults deal with the stress and challenges of the Coronavirus, Choose Love created a variety of new, free resources; and specifically, to support students and educators as they navigate the new normal of hybrid learning, Choose Love created Choosing Love in Our Brave New World, a back-to-school reintegration unit for Pre school through to the HighSchool and beyond.
