Episode 160 - Marketing SaaS Companies with Adam O'Leary

Episode 160 - Marketing SaaS Companies with Adam O'Leary

This week's episode is all about Marketing SaaS Companies. I'm joined by Adam O'Leary, co-founder of Trustscout, a video testimonial capture tool originally developed for agency white-label, eCommerce, and SMBs.

Testimonials are so important today, especially when there is so much choice in the market. These are really what sets you aside from the competition. But you shouldn't be afraid of negative reviews. This gives you a chance to understand what problems your customers are facing.

Adam would always try to get on the phone with someone who left a bad review and understand why the person felt that way. This is a great method of understanding their perspective and you talk them through further steps. This also allows you to make improvements from finding out these problems that people are having so you can make sure they don't reoccur.

We go on to speak about the two main aspects of a business being traffic and sales. As business owners, it's easy to get caught up with the tasks that don't move you forward. At the end of the day, there's nothing more important than how many people saw your message and how many people bought into it.

Stay safe and enjoy the episode.

Episode 158 - Social Media with Gerard Murnaghan

Episode 158 - Social Media with Gerard Murnaghan

This week's episode is all about social media. I'm joined by Gerard Murnaghan, General Manager & Vice President of Sprout Social, a business that offers a suite of social media solutions that supports organisations and agencies in extending their reach, amplifying their brands and creating real connections with their audiences.

Social media channels are now essential to a businesses digital profile. The pandemic has fuelled the online presence of businesses, causing everyone to adapt so they would be left behind.

We go on to speak about there being a lack of appreciation for how much effort that goes into it and the perception of finding the job done faster and at a cheaper price. Time is a key element when it comes to content creation as this gives you the opportunity to get creative.

Think outside the box and create authentic content that resonates with your audience. This is what will set you aside from your competitors generic content.

Your audience will know if you're not putting any effort into your social media. It will come across to them that you as a business don't care. When they get this impression they will be more likely to shop around.

If you really want to make it a success you should be putting as much attention, awareness, results and money as you can.

Episode 157 - Email Marketing with Vira Sadlak & Alissa Taggart

Episode 157 - Email Marketing with Vira Sadlak & Alissa Taggart

This week's episode is all about email marketing. I'm joined by Vira Sadlak, Account Manager at Flowium and Alissa Taggart, Client Services Director at Flowium.

Flowium is a Full-Service eCommerce Email Marketing Agency built to grow online retail revenue and connect clients to their customers. They are also the hosts of the Email Einstein podcast.

Email marketing isn't dead. Used effectively, it can be a huge tool that can drive revenue for your business. This is because it is your audience, of people who signed up because they wanted to hear more. Therefore you have direct communication and engagement with your email subscribers.

By using email marketing, you are able to get detailed, relevant information about your customers and then apply it to your strategy in a very substantial and impactful way. You are able to see the behaviour of your customers directly. From how they visit your website, to what they interact with, to which forms they've used, in order to give you more information.

In this episode we go on to speak about the real key basics that SMEs should be doing in order to get that process started and start collecting email addresses. We talk about how businesses can use email marketing effectively. Some great ways to do this are having an opt-in form at the very bottom of your website, a pop up on that website offering value to the visitor for in exchange for their email and last, but not least, post-purchase.

Episode 156 - Growing a Community with Genecia Alluora

Episode 156 - Growing a Community with Genecia Alluora

This week's episode is all about growing a community. I'm joined by Genecia Alluora, Founder of Soul Rich Woman, the #1 Leading Female Entrepreneur Network in South East Asia Connecting 200,000 Women Across The Region.

Growing a community is an essential part of any business today. Whether you're big or small, online or on the high street, your community are an integral part of your business. They're the ones that buy from you regular, that rave about you online and that support your business when you need it the most.

What does it take to grow a community? Well, that's where Genecia's experience really shines. Starting by working with the people you know, the people around you, and continuing to consistently show up. The expression "if you build it, they will come" should probably be updated for the digital marketing world to something like; "if you consistently build it, they will come".

We talk about the wealth of different experiences Genecia has had in the past, that all led her to be able to do what she does now. How she wants to empower women to come back to the workplace on their terms, to make sure they're living their best life.

Episode 155 - Marketing Automation & AI with Andrew Stockwell

Episode 155 - Marketing Automation & AI with Andrew Stockwell

This week's episode is all about marketing automation & AI. I'm joined by Andrew Stockwell, Chief Commercial Officer at RedEye, a business specialising in multi-channel marketing automation specifically designed for retailers, travel and financial, B2C lifecycle marketing.

Marketing Automation has developed a huge amount in recent years. There's now so much you can automate. With that being said, you want to start simple and don't try to automate every single task. It's important to think about your objective and what you want to achieve before doing so.

We speak about the tasks you can automate as an SME straight away such as a welcome campaign, basket abandonment campaigns and specialised messages through identifying key customer groups. These three marketing automation tasks will help you get ahead of your marketing.

Once you have marketing automation tasks in place you can see how they're performing and run tests. This will give you data that you can analyse. You now have a platform to start developing from where you can see what is working and what's not. From this, you can determine where you invest your time.

Episode 154 - Branding for Businesses with Nadim Sadek

This week's episode is all about branding for businesses. I'm joined by Nadim Sadek, CEO of ProQuo AI, a business that is revolutionising brand management by offering real-time AI-powered guidance that arms brand managers with the tools they need to optimise campaigns and make decisions in real-time.

Everyone has a brand. This is what sets you aside from the crowd. You want to identify who your target audience is and make sure your values align with them. Episode 153 - Adding Educational Courses to Your Business with Molly Keyser

Episode 153 - Adding Educational Courses to Your Business with Molly Keyser

This week's episode is all about adding educational courses to your business. I'm joined by Molly Keyser, Founder of Profitable Courses, the business that's on a mission to help people turn their passion into an online course that's profitable from day 1. Molly now helps service-based business owners add a profitable online course to their business so they can scale without trading more of their time for dollars.

With more businesses moving online than ever before, you are missing out if you aren't online. By taking the knowledge you already know and moving this online into a digital product, you can leverage the power of being online to educate others who share the same passions.

We go on to speak about how you can find ideas on what you want to base your course on. Creating a list of all of the areas in which you are knowledgeable about, and have a passion for, will help you to get that visibility. Your story on how you have got to where you are is also a key driver as you will be able to teach through your experience.

Once you've got your ideas you need to research them. Have a look and see if your course idea already exists and is selling. This is very important because if you can see the idea's selling you know that yours can sell too. By beta testing, or as Molly would refer to, kick-starting, you can get a sense of what people are interested in and more importantly, if they are going to buy your course. This is selling it before it's created.

Episode 152 - Telling stories through video with Dan Bennett

Episode 152 - Telling stories through video with Dan Bennett

This week's episode is all about telling stories through video. I’m joined by Dan Bennett the Founder of 1 Minute Media, a company that empowers individuals to tell their stories with great video through coursework and private membership. He is also a digital media freelancer who offers direct consultation for companies, as well as having decades of experience in video production, video editing, motion graphics, sound design, graphic design and digital content development.

Having a story in your video is crucial. The story is the most important part and the video is the vehicle that takes that story where it's going. This is so important because from storytelling you will gain trust from your audience and have that human connection and relatability.

We speak about how you can use your smartphone and some inexpensive equipment to transform the way we capture video and take the quality to another level. You want to ensure that your video is steady, as this portrays professionalism, and you can do this by getting a cheap and very effective GorillaPod.

The next piece of equipment is equally as important and will really help to elevate you above everyone else's content who don't know about it. A directional mic that plugs straight into your smartphone will give you crisp clear audio so your viewers will be able to hear exactly what you're saying.

Episode 151 - Content Creation Strategy with Ashley J. Saunders

Episode 151 - Content Creation Strategy with Ashley J. Saunders

This week’s episode is all about content creation strategy. I’m joined by Ashley J. Saunders, founder of AJS Digital Group, a media company with over a decade of experience in digital marketing. AJ has also launched an eBook publishing company, a global e-commerce shop, and started the current brands in the AJS Digital Group’s portfolio.

We speak about the basic foundations for a good content creation strategy and some tips that people can start implementing right away. One simple idea is to think about the common questions that your customers ask you and then create content based on these questions. This could easily give you up to a year's worth of content. Think also about your business processes and the steps you take in delivering your product or service. Each step could be a piece of content too.

When creating content, it is important that you use a variety of media and not rely heavily on text. Your content shouldn't look like an essay for school, otherwise, readers will lose interest. A good way to mix this up is by using images and short videos.

It's important to be active, especially for those that haven't done tasks such as podcasting or blogging before. Those who are nervous about these activities should realize they will improve with time and practice. The key is consistency.

Episode 148 - Creating Content with AI with Ryo Chiba

Episode 148 - Creating Content with AI with Ryo Chiba

This week’s episode is all about creating content with AI. I’m joined by Ryo Chiba, Co-Founder at Topic, an AI writing assistant that optimises your content to drive more organic traffic. Ryo has taken all his experience and knowledge and built Topic so that marketers could take advantage and create content in a scalable way that actually has a chance of ranking.

When creating content, SEO is a huge component to think about. It is a complicated process that is constantly evolving and involves a huge amount of research which most marketers don't end up doing. It should be thought of as a long term battle, there are no quick wins.

Some of the key points you should be focusing on in order to help your content rank and generate traffic are to compare your content with the top-ranked articles, identifying how competitive your keyword is, your ability to target that search intent and the amount of content you're able to create.

We go on to speak about how we can use Artificial intelligence (AI) to know what content to create. AI is integrated in many of the tools we use on a daily basis but we don't realise this. It helps to make sure you have a starting point when creating content, so as you're not just staring at a blank screen, it helps speeds up the workflow. The Topic tool helps massively with the content research and the brief creation aspect of your content creation.
