It's a good thing Mark isn't regional manager as he tries to figure out what makes Thelma & Louise such a cultural touchstone, how its 2nd act somehow makes a tragic ending feel so empowering, and what's so interesting about a young, shirtless Brad Pitt.

    Episode Introduction

“A DEA agent is found dead in mysterious circumstances in Paraguay. To protect his wife, a retiring prosecutor tries to label it as an overdose. The US sends an FBI agent to uncover the facts, confronting Paraguay’s corrupt justice system against America’s pursuit of truth.”

Hello and welcome back to the Audio Signals Podcast, where we muse on stories and storytellers. I'm Marco Ciappelli, your host, and I'm thrilled to have you here with us today. If you're new to the show, we dive deep into stories, storytelling, and the storytellers who create and share these narratives using a multitude of different media. In this show, I like to analyze not just the narrative but also the societal and sometimes technological layers that often go unnoticed, along with all that goes on behind the scenes of a story—whatever the format might be.

Alright, let's get to it. Today is special—no, it’s extraordinary. Why? Because we're taking a trip through the corridors of justice with a Paraguayan twist. We're going to explore "Old Fox's Justice," a legal drama set to hit the Off-Broadway New York theater scene, but with its soul deeply entrenched in the rich soil of Paraguay. Trust me, you're going to want to hear all about this. It's not just another courtroom drama; it's an exploration of justice, culture, and humanity at an intersection that most people wouldn't even consider.

With me today are Tahiana Larissa and Marco Augusto Ferreira. These two writers, both natives of Paraguay, have gone above and beyond to craft a tale that places two justice systems in a head-on collision and forces us to examine our own perspectives. If you're intrigued by the interplay of societal structures and individual narratives, you cannot afford to miss this conversation.

What's fascinating here is the universality of the story. Justice, as a concept, transcends borders. Yet, it's deeply influenced by the societies and cultures from which it originates. So when you throw the U.S. and Paraguayan systems into a pot and stir, what exactly bubbles to the surface? That's what we're here to explore. We'll also delve into the adventure of bringing a play to life on stage, discussing everything it takes to produce it—from actors to directors, costumes, and all the details and immense amount of work that goes behind it.

So sit tight, grab your beverage of choice, or just your favorite chair, and gear up for a session that promises to be enlightening, entertaining, and certainly inspiring.

Be sure to subscribe to the Audio Signals Podcast and share it with your friends and family so that we can all sit around a digital campfire and enjoy some good stories!

    Episode Introduction

Join me on this episode of Audio Signals Podcast as we virtually hike with Darren Mass, creator of "I Took a Hike," exploring the trails of storytelling, business insights, and the wilderness philosophy.

I stride forward, virtually, boots crunching on the trail, stepping into the unfamiliar yet intriguing world of storytelling. On this episode of Audio Signals Podcast, hosted by yours truly, Marco Ciappelli, I'm taking you on a journey not just through the tales but the art of telling them. This isn't just about narration; it's about understanding the minds and souls behind the words.

The trail winds and twists as I prepare to converse with Darren Mass, a Business Therapist and part-time Wilderness Philosopher, the creator of the podcast "I Took a Hike." Maybe we will take a hike and record a podcast together when the occasion arises, but for now, what better way to grasp his philosophy than to virtually put on the hiking boots ourselves, to delve into his approach of combining business insights with the rustic embrace of Mother Nature?

Why hiking? I wonder as the conversation begins. Darren reveals that the great outdoors serves as a catalyst for genuine, raw conversations. There's no room for fabrication when you're facing nature's unpredictable twists. One misstep and you're in poison ivy; one wrong turn and you face a cliff's edge. Just like the trails he hikes, Darren's podcast brings the unknown, the uncharted, into focus. And in these untamed conversations, the truth is uncovered, the real emotions are laid bare.

As we talk, Darren's concept resonates with me. We are all navigating through trails of our lives, some smooth, some rugged. But it's the unpaved paths that often lead us to the most profound realizations, the deepest connections. Is there a greater metaphor for life? These trails, both real and metaphorical, tell stories, and Darren has turned them into an art form.

"I Took a Hike" isn't just a podcast; it's an experience, an adventure. It takes you out of the well-trodden paths of everyday life and leads you on a journey where your mind and soul can wander. Whether it's an encounter with a snake or the eye-opening perspective of a boulder placed by aliens, each hike is a tale of discovery and revelation.

I find myself reflecting on the storyteller's role. Like a guide leading you through the wilderness, a storyteller helps you navigate the complex terrain of human experience. Sometimes we lose our way, but the story always brings us back, reconnecting us with our essence. As I'm talking to Darren, I realize that his hiking trails are more than just physical paths; they are philosophical journeys that explore human nature and emotions.

So here I am, Marco Ciappelli, inviting you to listen to this episode of Audio Signals Podcast, as we virtually take this hike together with Darren Mass, exploring not just the stories but the essence of storytelling. It's a new turn, where it's not just about the narratives but about those who dare to tell them. Come join us on this adventurous path; you never know what we might discover together. Subscribe, share, and stay tuned for more stories at the intersection of society, technology, and beyond. This is about more than just tales; this is about life, passion, and the art of connection.

Till the next trail, keep musing on stories and storytellers.

    122 - Possession (1981) Review

    122 - Possession (1981) Review

So get this. Your wife asks for a divorce and of course, it absolutely shatters your world. But you're actually Sam Neil's character, Mark, in the 1981 horror drama, Possession, where that's actually the least of your worries cause you'll soon encounter demonic sex goo and your son will tragically die from the trauma. Oh and just watch for the spiral staircase. It's a wacky world. However, there's a very distinguished and sexual Euro.

This movie, while almost impossible to find, is a movie that we absolutely love to talk about and is one of our favorites. We are so excited to discuss this movie at length and all the craziness that's in it. A movie that is so deep and so bat shit crazy, we can't keep our eyes off the screen.

Final Friday: Sharkansas Women's Prison Massacre (2015)

When a fracking incident causes a rare species of prehistoric sharks to come to the surface, they target a group of female prisoners who use a work program to escape. These sharks have ability to travel through both land and water and immediately kill anybody in their way. The sharks are deadly, the women prisoners are hot, and the kills are wild. This is a movie that we had to review.

    115 - Shark Night (2011) Review

Going to Sara's lakehouse for the weekend sounded like a great idea for a group of friends who would never believe they'd be shark food. Shark Night surfaced in 2011 featuring a few big names like Joel David Moore and Katherine McPhee. While an enjoyable watch more than 10 years later, it's hard to wrap our heads around a shark reality tv show. This movie was riddled with inconsistencies, but give it a watch, check out our review, and let us know your thoughts.
