COLOR OUT OF SPACE

As we mercifully close the book on the mess that was 2020, it’s time to look back and discuss our favorite movies of the past year. As we count down our top ten, we also reflect on how the pandemic changed film distribution in positive and negative ways, celebrate the diverse stories presented in cinema throughout the year, and reveal how one of our favorite defunct movie theaters has been immortalized on film. Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and a horrible bovine pun.

It's that time of the year when we look back at all the horror films of the past year and pick our favorites! Casey (the Spooky Sister) joins Eric and Cory to count down our collective top 10 of the year. Since the princess of pain, Shotzi Blackheart is away with WWENXT, Dominic and Screamin' E continue their 3 part exploration into the work of Nic Cage, with 2019's Lovecraftian COLOR OUT OF SPACE! Part 1 was a deep dive into MANDY, do the boys love this one more? Find out on Part 2 of CAGED!

This week: Scott talks about watching Color Out of Space at a micro-theater cafe and visiting the Lovecraft Arts & Sciences, and the gang offers up their thoughts on Alan Baxter's killer kangaroo novella, The Roo, Adam Cesare's Young Adult horror novel, Clown in a Cornfield, and the film Gretel and Hansel. Then, it's on to our spoiler-filled deep-dive into Adam Nevill's latest folk horror novel, The Reddening!

This was directed by Richard Stanley (Island of Dr. Moreau, Hardware, Dust Devil) and marks his return to directing after a 20+ year hiatus. This movie is based on a short story by HP Lovecraft and it is visually stunning. We really enjoyed it and think that you'll enjoy this episode as well!
