Ep. 211: There goes my Miro!

Ep. 211: There goes my Miro!

If there’s going to be too much wrestling, there may as well be some exciting parts mixed in. That means new champions like NXT Champion Finn Balor and AEW tag champions FTR.

Plus Miro (formerly WWE’s Rusev) made his return to wrestling as part of AEW! We’ll explain why we’re excited about him… and why it looks like AEW might be relying on former WWE talent. Just a little.

    The Main Event

Not a great week for either AEW or WWE taking care of their performers. While the language of the actual rules is a little vague, it still remains that WWE is looking to further restrict its wrestlers appearing on third party services like YouTube, Twitch, Cameo and more. We’ll explain why this feels like a gross move. And not to be outdone, Matt Hardy took a bad fall on Saturday that resulted in him going to the hospital. While AEW insists that he doesn’t have a concussion, we remain dubious that that they handled this the right way.

    The Three Count

Lindsey and Hal put over You Cannot Kill David Arquette.

Hosted by Hal Lublin and Lindsey Kelk

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Ep 208: Cat-proof the Air Conditioner

    ENTER THE THUNDERDOME!

Hal and Lindsey are back to discuss the latest Big 4 PPV weekend of the quarantine wrestling saga. We’ve got SummerSlam and TakeOver on the horizon, but how excited are we? Even if WWE plans on installing a Zoom call of WWE fans in the background, are the matches up to snuff? We’ll discuss.

Plus AEW has a show coming up Saturday as well. But the bigger news is that they’ll have fans in attendance at their shows starting next week! Is that safe? Probably not!

And finally will bid a fond farewell to Renee Young as she prepares to wrap up her WWE career this weekend. Talking Smack… RAW Talk… Total Divas… How can we ever forget them?

This week, our friend John Walsh (better known as Super Eyepatch Wolf on YouTube) rejoins us all the way from Ireland. We’ll chat for a bit about how the apocalypse is affecting the people in his country when… Oh yeah, wrestling!

Since its inception AEW has done a lot of things right. But one thing that its consistently come short on is its women’s division. And while we’ve gotten used to the brief matches and limited character moments, it’s lately gotten worse. A women’s tag tournament with no TV time and a women’s fan community behind a $50 paywall pushed us to our limits and we’ve gotta talk about it.

    The Main Event:

It was one of the longest running and transformative stories in the history of international wrestling: Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi as the Golden Lovers. We’ll discuss why the story of these two was so affecting from the fight, the union, the separation, the reunion and second separation.

    The Three Count

John put over Showbuckle on twitter and Kenny Johnson on YouTube

    Danielle put over Orange Cassidy.

Lindsey put over Rhea Ripley on NXT.

Hal put over MJF's campaign on the road to his title match..

Adam “Edge” Copeland and Kelsey Grammer star in this heist movie that features a lot of blood, a lot of swearing and one surprising small money plane.

Hal, Danielle and Lindsey will walk you through all the fun to be had and try to piece together a heist movie with the worst group of thieves in existence.

    The Three Count

    Ep 200: The 200th episode!

    Ep 200: The 200th episode!

Hal and Lindsey are here on this seminal episode of Tights and Fights! We’ll reminisce just for a bit, but then we’ll get back to what we love: Talking about wrestling!

We had what will go down as a match that was called The Greatest Wrestling Match EVER, with Randy Orton as the victor and Edge injured. Where do we go from here? And why lead into it with a circus song?

Plus Cody Rhodes is on quite the hot streak lately! We anticipate that his growing success and detachment from his allies has him on the path for a heel turn… but we mostly just remain distracted by that neck tattoo of his.

Finally, we’d be remiss if we didn’t also briefly talk about the #SpeakingOut campaign on Twitter that’s outting a number of wrestlers as sexual predators. There’s still a lot to sort through, but we’ll give our thoughts on everything we’ve heard so far.

    The Three Count

Lindsey put Zack Sabre. Jr.'s post-match interview.

Hal put over The Last Ride documentary.

Ep 199: NXT TakeOver & Dagwoodin’

Ep 199: NXT TakeOver & Dagwoodin’

Hal, Danielle and Lindsey are back to discuss NXT TakeOver in your House! It was a show that was full of an angry Finn Balor, a new champion, jumping off the house AND the return of our beloved hero Todd Pettengill!

But was this Sunday the swansong for our beloved Velveteen Dream on NXT? We’ll discuss if the Backlot Brawl was a proper farewell.

In other news, Sasha Banks has a new championship! She’s one half of the women’s tag champions with Bayley. But why does this seem to underscore some of the problems we’ve had with her booking? We’ll explain.

    The Three Count

Danielle put over Edge’s upcoming movie Money Plane.

Lindsey put Rhea Ripley’s encounter with Robert Stone.

Hal put over Kacy Catanzaro’s TikTok.

Ep. 193: Wrestling brain food with Simon Gotch

Ep. 193: Wrestling brain food with Simon Gotch

Hal and Danielle are joined by Simon Grimm (aka Simon Gotch). He’s perhaps best known for his time in WWE and NXT where he was one half of the Vaudvillains tag team with Aiden English.

He’ll tell us all about what it’s been like to navigate the waters of COVID-19 as an independent wrestler who can’t wrestle right now.

He’s also got thoughts on things like WWE and AEW’s empty arena shows, the evolution of the modern fans’ sensibilities and some of the most disgusting diseases that wrestlers are vulnerable to.

    The Three Count

Simon put over Leyla Hirsh and Matt Makowski.

Danielle put over wrestling twitter after dark

Hal put over Dr. Britt Baker DDS’ tour of her office.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Simon Gotch.

Women Talking Women's Wrestling | Wrestling Mayhem Show 628

Women Talking Women's Wrestling | Wrestling Mayhem Show 628
This week’s episode brought to you by Slice on Broadway, Occupy Pro Wrestling, and Indy Wrestling US! Our Impact Therapy group needed some therapy from their therapy, so we're returning to our regularly-scheduled podcasting. This week Mad Mike and Sorg are joined by Honey Badger and Lola Bradbury to get some perspective on current things in wrestling, including: Sorg went to a tech and podcast conference - - and saw Colt Cabana. In case you missed it, WWE is focusing on women with their recent announcements. We're talking some thoughts on an all women PPV. Is this women's PPV in response to the Greatest Royal Rumble where there were NO women? Who should be the commentary team for WWE Evolution? Sometimes the WWE mold doesn't fit. Thankfully it's constantly evolving and we're seeing new things. Elias made it to some top charts with his debut CD. RIP to Nikolai Volkoff, Brian Lawler, and Brickhouse Brown. Kaiju has a Kickstarter - and Sorg wants everyone to get on board. Matt Cross visited the OG Lucha Underground temple. Cody Rhodes offered to help a fan get to All In. Mad Mike is pitching the PERFECT John Morrison merch! This week's Big Question - What is your dream main event for WWE Evolution? Honey Badger had an interesting experience at Revenge Pro. What did you learn in wrestling? Follow our stable on Twitter: Honey Badger (@ReginaHBadger), Lola Bradbury (@Lola_Bradbury), Mad Mike (@MadMike4883), and Sorg (@Sorgatron).
