The Gaming Pubcast - Episode 28 - Bill Harbison Interview

The Gaming Pubcast - Episode 28 - Bill Harbison Interview

In this week's episode, we interview the artist Bill Harbison, who has worked on many iconic games, from Ocean Software's Daley Thompson's Challenge, to Robocop, then all the way to Lawn Mowing Simulator! We discuss the start of his career, the highs and the challenges and to be honest, this really could have been our first 4hr episode, but we thought we'd let him go! He's currently working on a game for a company called Spliced Inc., with a Rockstar Games and Travellers Tales pedigree, which we will hopefully get him back on to talk about when he can! https://www.splicedinc.com/

After the interview, we chat about games we've been playing, A Plague Tale : Requiem, Gameboy games, Cyberpunk 2077 : Phantom Liberty, and of course - Palworld.

That last one then provides another discussion about this phenomenon, Ark meets Pokemon, but it's not Pokemon....or is it? It's certainly caused a stir!

We also discuss the Xbox Developer Direct which finally revealed the Indiana Jones game from Machine Games, more Avowed from Obsidian and another in the Mana rpg series, which one are you looking forward to?

With pong home consoles, Indiana Jones games, a technical issue in the middle that should have challenged Duncan's editing skills, but he decided to keep in(!) and more, this is a jam-packed episode, and we hope you enjoy! Find all our links at linktr.ee/TheGamingPubcast

Creatures Such As We and Memories of Infocom

It's time to dim the lights and break out the legally binding waivers, as Kay and Carrington get busy with an interactive fiction dating sim. They'll also get down to some music inspired by Infocom games. Remember when they used to just play Zork? This podcast just keeps getting weirder.

To mark our 64th episode we are graced with the presence of Aaron from the Zed1 Podcast. Taking a half hour breather from braining Zeds with a tape deck, he educates the ungroomed host about the magic age of micro computers and why they were so important during their era.

There are certain songs still stuck in my head.

Zork Zero: The Revenge of Megaboz

It's another game with a colon in the title, as Kay and Carrington tackle the ninth game in the increasingly inaccurately named Zork Trilogy. This one wraps up the entire Zork series, and (maybe) (kinda) explains everything. It all started long ago west of a white house, but how will it end? And what comes next? Journey: The Quest Begins

Kay and Carrington take a midnight train going anywhere into a land of magic, but too few resources to play it any way they want it (that's the way they need it). Will the Grue Crew and this game go their separate ways, or will they embrace this capital-J Journey with open arms?

Can Kay and Carrington defeat the usurper king and restore peace to a fabled land? And more importantly, can they do it while turning into badgers and turtles and eels, oh my. Some claim there is more to being a knight than just eating ham and jam and Spam a lot. Surely you joust.
