About the Green Dragon Tavern Show

“Talking a little treason.” Veteran political operative Zach Lautenschlager and retired MLB pitcher Dennis Sarfate bring breaking news and inside commentary on American culture, politics and business.

The Green Dragon Tavern is where Paul Revere and the Sons of Liberty gathered in Boston during the American Revolution. “Let us go to the Green Dragon and talk a little treason,” Founding Father Samuel Adams would say, tongue in cheek, according to legend.

Today, the Green Dragon Tavern Show is where free men and women gather in defense of freedom.

SEASON 2 EPISODE 24: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN

    A-Block (1:43) SPECIAL COMMENT:

Trump STILL has to go to trial in 189 days and apparently STILL does not know there is no legal mechanism to APPEAL the judge’s schedule nor STILL does half the Republican Party and STILL at least half of all media including the BBC, and thus Trump is STILL ROYALLY EFFED.

And after Mark Meadows inexplicably testified for more than four hours yesterday trying to get a glorified change of venue in the Atlanta Election Subversion Conspiracy trial by using the singular strategy of confessing to everything… the Judge says he’ll have a ruling “as soon as possible”whether it stays in local court in Atlanta or in a federal court presumably elsewhere in Georgia with a jury pool more favorable to Meadows and Trump and when they say favorable of course they mean more WHITE.

She wasn’t going to JAIL Trump, no matter how much I wished for it on my lucky beads. She was going to do something far worse. She was going to assume he was doing it to try to poison the jury pool (like he could think THAT rationally or THAT far ahead) and she would just speed up the trial. The prosecution wanted the trial to open 127 days from now. Trump countered with 947 days. Two and a half years. Chutkan’s compromise REEKS of “this is punishment, please enjoy being EFFED” – 189 days.

    It's glorious.

There is one thing here Trump truly fears – the OTHER essential ingredient (besides a guilty verdict) that can put him behind bars: a speedy trial – and his nitwitted co-defendants, his supposed minions Ken Cheesbro and Mark Meadows and Sidney Powell all INVOKED the Georgia Speedy Trial Law so THAT one is already on track to start two months earlier than originally planned BY THE D-A… and now Trump is being beaten up by the judge who KNOWS it’s the one thing Trump truly fears – and we’ll see you on March 4th.

Now about Meadows: why did he feel he had to testify – for four hours – that he was Trump’s gatekeeper and HE was at every meeting and HE was on every phone call and HE was the guy others went to, to get Trump to listen to them – and HE went to Georgia and HE arranged the Raffensberger phone call and HE was in the meeting with the Michigan politicos and wait wait – that meeting and the Raffensberger call were about… overturning the election results in Georgia and Michigan? THAT’S what Trump meant about the 11-thousand-790 votes? I’ll be damned!

    Trump is SO effed.

B-Block (21:18) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Big news everyone! Today is the day the Bidens are sentenced by the military and the "Citizens Tribunal" according to the founder of Judicial Watch. Tucker Carlson insists getting fired makes you a man: so he's FOUR men I guess. And Joe The Plumber dies. (26:28) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Melanie Zanona of CNN both-sides a Biden impeachment story but leaves out the fact that the GOP has no evidence until PARAGRAPH NINE. The NRA exaggerates the number of Americans using an AR-15 for defense by roughly 1,999,996. And Congressman Byron Donalds "blames" the 2020 lockdown and the vaccine rollout on Biden. While Trump was still president.

C-Block (31:47) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: With The Daily Beast reporting Matt Lauer has abandoned his comeback, time to recount what we really knew about him at NBC and the time he tried to get me fired because I helped him get a "big get" interview.

What the End of ‘Zero Covid’ in China Means with Bill Bishop

What the End of ‘Zero Covid’ in China Means with Bill Bishop
The pandemic hasn’t raged within China the way it has in the rest of the world over the past few years. However, that’s beginning to change. Following a wave of protests, Chinese leadership officially rolled back some of the country’s most stringent Covid restrictions. The end of “zero Covid” policies, combined with an already strained medical system, along with low vaccination and immunity levels, could lead to disastrous public health and economic consequences. China could see over a million deaths in 2023, according to projections from the University of Washington Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation. Bill Bishop is a longtime expert on China, writer of his own Substack newsletter called “Sinocism,” co-founder of CBS Marketwatch and he worked in China for years. Bishop joins WITHpod to discuss how government control has been consolidated under president Xi Jinping, the timeline of events leading to this moment, why Covid case numbers in China are undercounted and what the latest developments portend for (what could be) a very sobering future.

Trekking Life with Jeffrey Tan: Pathfinder * Transformation Coach * Leadership Facilitator. Part 2

Trekking Life with Jeffrey Tan: Pathfinder * Transformation Coach * Leadership Facilitator. Part 2

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk. You’ll recognize yourself in these true-life stories of adversity, challenge, fear, discovery, adventure, expression, and more from (mostly) women who are walking their lives while their lives walk them and the lasting difference their journeys have made. I’m your host, Diane Wyzga.

Welcome back to Part 2 of the podcast interview with my guest Jeffrey Tan, Pathfinder, Transformation Coach and Leadership Facilitator who joined us from his home in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We were talking about walking our lives, strength, courage, and finding our way when I asked Jeffrey where his name, Pathfinder, came from. Let’s hear what he has to say on this, on leadership, parenting children as a single dad under COVID, and more.

    Minutes: 32:29

    0:00 to 1:45       Intro

1:45 to 4:10         Becoming the Pathfinder

Question: Is that where the name Pathfinder came from because I understand that’s what you call yourself.

    • Yes. Pathfinder came about as a result of introducing friends to Mother Nature and hiking trails.
    • Jeffrey believes: if people appreciate and love Mother Nature they will learn to respect it and work to preserve it, to protect it
    • Encourages his friends to spend time in the forest - to experience how wonderful it is
    • No one complains
    • Jeffrey realized he is always the one who charts the course and leads the way
    • Jeffrey needs to know which path is best to get the hike done before breakfast
    • Jeffrey was a Pathfinder on the path
    • As a coach/trainer Jeffrey realized he helps people find their path
    • Jeffrey claimed the name Pathfinder: helping people lost in career, relationships, and life in general he helps them find their path in life

4:10 to 12:00       Trekking the Annapurna Circuit, Nepal

Question: What do you remember about being shown the path while trekking the Annapurna Circuit, Nepal?

    • Jeffrey remembers going to higher elevations, air getting thinner, less oxygen available, Altitude Sickness possible
    • Jeffrey and his group had to acclimatize
    • Acclimatize requires you to go to higher elevation for a short time to get used to the thinner air
    • When he and his group went up the mountain they experienced something different, pushing to take on challenges
    • Likewise, to take on new challenges we need to just try it first, take small steps - acclimate - it gets easier, better when we get used to it
    • Throughout the 16 day journey Jeffrey felt was walking toward something..... and when he reached the high point, he understood that reaching the peak and coming down was like a new lease of life for him.
    • Jeffrey’s awareness: quit the current job and go on the path of becoming a trainer and coach
    • Enlightenment moment: now this is a new path!
    • Jeffrey’s story: During the acclimatization he had closure with his step- mom who had died from cancer several years before. He had no closure, felt empty, something left undone. Went to the Buddhist temple and meditated with one of his trekking partners; the moment Jeffrey closed his eyes he felt  nonstop tears and a vision of his mom. His mom had met his daughter (Gaia) but not his son (Gaius). His mom loved boys. He said he was sure his mom wold love Gaius. He saw his children looking up to the clouds and a vision of his mom looking down at them.

Host: There are many ways to kneel and kiss the ground [Rumi]. Jeffrey is demonstrating with his stories the importance of being in the outdoors, a mountain trekking expedition that revels past, present, future. There is so much magic in these stories, richness of life experiences you are sharing with us. Thank you for dipping deep into the treasure trove.

    • All his trekking trips have been magical
    • The treks have shown him life’s challenges are like climbing a mountain and if you can climb you can prevail

12:00 to 14:29       3 Tips to Acclimate to Getting Outdoors

Question: What 3 tips would you offer to folks who are curious about, interested in acclimatizing themselves in the outdoors but something is holding them back; what could you say to give some encouragement?

    • Get a pair of boots. Decent boots. The minute you spend several hundred dollars on a pair of boots you will be motivated to use them, to take your first step
    • If you want an adventure nothing like getting outside, mountains, forests, to experience magic in the Mother Nature
    • The moment Jeffrey stepped into a forest he had greater  appreciation for life, even as simple as drinking water because it might not be there
    • Water is Life-giving, like children are

14:20 to 20:11       Parenting During COVID Lockdown

Which brings us to another sort of Pathfinder training and leadership mastery program: parenting during lockdown. I understand that you have a son and a daughter. Question: How have these little humans helped you, what have they taught you?

    • These Little People are wiser than you think
    • Have conversations with your children
    • Jeffrey doesn’t get to see his children often; during COVID lockdown it could be weeks or months  before he saw his daughter
    • They missed each other and will ask about how the other is feeling, why there is sadness
    • As an 8 year old child comforted her father, Jeffrey felt many emotions as he continues to process the experience
    • Jeffrey is pretty open with his daughter: he apologizes when he does something wrong or messes up; explains when there is (or is not) money to buy extra things now or later
    • For as difficult as the divorce was on him his children has been the focus of Jeffrey’s care

Host: Jeffrey’s children are funny, articulate, engaging and as solid little humans show the investment of loving attention given to them. We will figure our way out. When we apologize to children we are recognizing their humanity.

20:11 to 26:20       Tips for Raising Children

Question:  What tips can you offer to parents who might be struggling with raising children in trying times, who could use some hope, support or encouragement?

    • Listen to your children. Children do not complain or fuss for no reason at all - it is to get your attention. Listen to what they want to say. Hear them. This is not easy for adults to do
    • It’s not about showering children with gifts but with your time. Time is precious.
    • Extravagance might not be the best choice. He prefers to engage with them, wash car with his children when they couldn’t swim in the pool; it was fun even though it cost him  some money because his car was bigger than the children's mother's car
    • Many adults think it’s not cool to get down and dirty with children. Do that stuff with them because they grow up too fast!
    • Don’t be afraid to be silly with them, making up stories, fairy tales, whatever. Engage to understand your children and be aware that they are also sensitive to you as the parent.
    • Jeffrey adds 2 stories about Gaia asking him to play a video game, and the end of a dating relationship. Don’t hide things from them. Ask them how they feel about changes and other circumstances, what they might be worried about.

    26:20 to 28:10       Legacy

Question: As we sit here today, what do you hope will come about because your story is out in the world?

    • Jeffrey wishes for everyone (to know) no matter how challenging Life is, you can always pick yourself up
    • If you find that at that one moment you do not have the strength to get up, get someone to help you
    • Do not be afraid to ask for help
    • All you need is that one lift and you’ll be on your way
    • Jeffrey hopes that his Life stories are able to inspire our listeners to get out, get an adventure of a life
    • Life is an adventure!
    • It’s not the end of the world when losses and suffering happen
    • Know that your kids understand you more than you know, more than you think

28:10 to 32:29       Thank You for Your Stories

Before I say "thank you!" to Jeffrey I want to mention that all social media links and connections to stay in touch with him and explore RISE the Workshop will be posted in these Episode Notes. Please make sure you drop by, check it out, and if you’re on LinkedIn you might want to follow Jeffrey and his wonderful daily video tapings.

Thank you very much, Jeffrey, for walking along with us and sharing your story of how a man learned to find his own way, to re-write his own story, and now serves as a Pathfinder for others who are lost, or worn out or have slipped off the path for a time

Thank you, Diane! You and your posts inspire me. It’s really a pleasure to meet up with you. I couldn’t tell you how excited I was to chat together.

    BIO/ABOUT

I'm a Pathfinder, a Coach and learning facilitator. I help people explore their paths in their personal and professional growth and development.

A fisherman and cook on a kelong, a site supervisor for a construction company, a Cleaning Operations Executive handling jobsites covering Kajang to Klang, a housekeeping supervisor in Holiday Villa for 3 months that led into a 25 year sales career as KL Branch Manager in one of Malaysia's premium cleaning supplies company.

Those years of managing and handling peoples from all walks of life led me to an understanding of their behaviors and attitude.

These experience gave me insights into the pains and pleasures of:

    1. Managing and understanding expectations of owners as well as the people I was leading.

    2. Leading project, sales and operations teams.

    3. Training operations and sales teams.

My experiences allowed me insights into the thoughts and behaviors of owners, managers, leaders, admin and operations personnel.

In 1998 I attended a Leadership Program to improve myself, and since then people development became a passion of mine.

I love the outdoors and mountain trekking which began with a trek in FRIM (Forest Research Institute of Malaysia) that led me to Gunung Angsi, Gunung Nuang and finally peaked on Mount Kinabalu. I began craving more adventures and ended trekking Gunung Tahan, ascending from Merapoh in Kelantan and descending in Kuala Tahan 10 days later. As adventures go, it never ends, as i targeted Annapurna Circuit in 2013 after coming down from Mount Kinabalu for the 3rd time.

In April 2014, my team of 8 trekked the Annapurna Circuit, Nepal.

My adventures thought me leadership, team engagement and the practice of self mastery, all of which enriches my training designs.

From FBi Radio and the CBAA in Sydney, Mitch Fuller takes you through the 2021 Sydney lockdown from his perspective and those of his friends.

Supervising production from Ian Crouch. Training from the Community Media Training Organisation. Distributed by the Community Radio Network.

Produced for the 2021 CBAA National Features and Documentary Series.

So, in 2021 I decided to live alone in Sydney. What I didn't realise at the time was what that really meant.

During 100 days of lockdown in 2021, I spent most of my time in my studio apartment.

What started out as novel, began to drag as Winter turned into Spring, but Sydney stayed quiet.

When the solitude felt more like isolation I was kept afloat by conversations with friends over the phone.

I have attempted to condense 100 days of lockdown into 12 minutes of audio featuring Gladys, coffee making, and the varied experiences of my friends.

    Special Thanks

Lockdown lessons: caring for those most in need

Lockdown lessons: caring for those most in need

Welcome to Nepal Now. I’m Marty Logan.

Today is Thursday, April 29th. A few hours ago we started a second lockdown here in the Kathmandu Valley in response to a frightening rise in the number of Covid-19 cases. I’ve read reports that the intensive care units of many hospitals are full and projections that the number of cases in Nepal is growing faster than in neighbouring India, which of course has been devastated in recent days.

Lockdown here basically means that except for food shops and pharmacies — which open only for limited hours in the morning and evening — all but essential business stops. Last year, when the entire country locked down, here in Nepal’s capital within days we saw many people on the streets after they ran out of food. Governments provided some support but it was civil society that stepped up and set up kitchens on the streets to cook hot meals and assemble food packs for families.

Kusum Tamang of Hiteri Foundation led one of the many, many efforts that sprang up in the capital and across the country. Today we’re talking to her about how her tiny organization managed to contribute so much during the lockdown and about some of the people they supported and continue working with. She also has some ideas to better prepare for the next emergency.

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend that you also listen to our very first episode, from July 2020, Community to the Rescue — Again: Covid-19 in Nepal

    Coming and Going

    Coming and Going

An emotional turn around as Claire struggles after Alexandre's departure - his return to France has left her wondering if they would have anything like a future together. Barret is there for her -  to offer advice as CoolAunts always manage to do. Claire is uninspired and without any ideas for her next move, until she is surprised by the unexpected arrival of her dear friend Grace. As is her usual, Grace arrives in a big way with another friend in tow - and a 25 foot long Airstream trailer. Like Claire, both of them are now unemployed - they'd just driven across country to escape the city, help Claire with her new business and to start something new too. Sidonie and Grace will be staying on at the vineyard once the trailer is installed by Claire's newly remodeled barn. It's a 'turn-around' kind of day for everyone at the vineyard on this quiet Sunday afternoon.

    Lockdown 2.0 Survival Kit

So it's back here again in the UK...Lockdown

After the high vibrations of last weeks Covid 19 Special 2.0
I wanted to follow up with another special to keep the positivity going, give you inspiration and remind you of some of the great advice and knowledge shared by my guests.

    In this episode I have split it into 3 different sections;

    Mental Well Being
    Physical Well Being
    Money and Business

These three subjects are at the forefront of everyone's mind right now, so I have featured guests from previous episodes, sharing snippets and wisdom on these subjects.

As this is a completely different format from my usual episodes and as I am a Reggae songwriter/singer as well as the creator/host of this show I though I'd feature my own music as the soundtrack to this episode.

If you would like to view any of the music video's to these featured songs and catch up on the full episodes of the featured guests go to www.danieal.co.uk

“The Punk Rock of Literature” (Interview with Dr Jonny Zweck)

“The Punk Rock of Literature” (Interview with Dr Jonny Zweck)

Meet the man who ruined Alex's milk and cookies by writing a story so abjectly disgusting that it laid waste to bedtime. This week we're kicking off our 'Writers and their Partners' series, talking to Amy's partner, the Horror writer Jonny Zweck. (Sean refuses to participate in this misguided series next, even though it's patently his turn, and his partner is also a doc who writes the words. Alex, meanwhile, is threatening to go pick someone up so he can get involved. Be warned.) There's grammar talk, abject horror and the search for meaning, and the eternal question: how do you pronounce the word 'wolf'?

12 Co-rating COVID isolation - Ross and Josh

12 Co-rating COVID isolation - Ross and Josh

Four years ago, traveling independently in inner city Melbourne, Ross de Vent scored VROOM 14/50 for his functional vision (Fragments), and OMO 33/50 for his functional mobility (Capable). Ross now lives on the fringe of metropolitan Melbourne and has been in COVID isolation with his household and guide dog for the past 4 months. Today, we found that Ross’ vision and mobility scores have both dropped to VROOM 6/50 (Fifty shades of grey) and OMO 28/50 (Cautious), despite his clinical vision remaining stable. The drop in VROOM rating suggests that it not worth looking when there is nothing new to look at in the COVID cave, and the OMO score captured the gloom and limited life-space of COVID restrictions. During this time, Ross has valued frequent contact with his support worker, Josh Glover, in tackling technology challenges and making some big life decisions. Ross prompts us to rethink the relative importance of independent mobility when also wanting to stay COVID-safe, connect with people to dispel the gloom, and save some energy for professional commitments.
