    «History Maker»

    «History Maker»
Is it true today that when people pray Cloudless skies will break Kings and queens will shake Yes it's true and I believe it I'm living for you Is it true today that when people pray We'll see dead men rise And the blind set free Yes it's true and I believe it I'm living for you I'm gonna be a history maker in this land I'm gonna be a speaker of truth to all mankind I'm gonna stand, I'm gonna run Into your arms, into your arms again Into your arms, into your arms again Well it's true today that when people stand With the fire of God, and the truth in hand We'll see miracles, we'll see angels sing We'll see broken hearts making history Yes it's true and I believe it We're living for you

34 The Lord's Prayer Ep 9: Lead Us and Deliver Us (with Stu G)

Stu G brings the wisdom and incredible music from his Beatitudes Project to help us hear “Lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil” with new ears. What does it mean to be a holy troublemaker in the world today? How can we know if we are being persecuted for Christ, or persecuted because we are unlike Christ? A robust conversation...with great music.

Stu G is a guitarist, songwriter, and producer. Stu is best known as the guitarist for the British band Delirious?, who—for nearly two decades—penned many of the popular worship songs in modern Christendom. He was also a member of the distinguished CompassionArt songwriters collective, which boasted heavy-hitters Paul Baloche, Darlene Zschech, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Israel Houghton. Stu lives in Nashville with his wife Karen.

On this episode, Stu and our host Adam Russell dig into Stu's origin story leading to the birth of Delirious?.  They then discuss the riches found in the Sermon on the Mount, specifically the Beatitudes. This passage of scripture has become a passion project for Stu culminating in "The Beatitudes Project" - a feature-length documentary that has spawned an album, book, podcast, and group experience featuring artists, thinkers, and change-makers from all over the world who grapple with this timely question: does the most famous sermon in history still apply? This conversation on the text of Matthew 5-7 has particular relevance in this time of COVID-19 quarantine and economic crisis.

STU G: Delirious? Co-Founder Stu Garrard on “The Beatitudes Project”

STU G: Delirious? Co-Founder Stu Garrard on “The Beatitudes Project”

Best known as co-founder, lead guitarist, and songwriter of the British worship band Delirious? with Martin Smith, Stu Garrard helped shape the modern worship movement. Famous for culture-shifting songs like Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble and I Could Sing of Your Love Forever, Garrard helped to capture and define worship for an entire generation as Delirious? traveled the world leading millions in worship and even opening for Bon Jovi.

In this episode, John Chisum visits with Stu G around his new release called “The Beatitudes Project,” a full-length record featuring songs Stu co-wrote with industry-leading artists Amy Grant, Audrey Assad, Michael W. Smith, All Sons and Daughters, Joel Houston, and many more. The album is accompanied by a book, Words from the Hill (An Invitation to the Unexpected) released in April by NavPress, and a documentary film, View from the Hill, now in production.

In this episode, John and Stu discussed not only The Beatitudes Project, but great moments in Stu’s career, what it’s like to co-write with amazing artists, and offered songwriting advice to aspiring writers.

Ep 50: Stu G from Delirious on the Beatitudes Project

Ep 50: Stu G from Delirious on the Beatitudes Project

Stu G became known as the lead guitarist and songwriter for the revolutionary worship band Delirious? but after years of touring with other artists and logging lots of time as a studio musician, Stu finally decided to take on a passion project long in gestation: a multimedia work based off of The Beatitudes, the opening words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5. It started out as a set of songs but then soon grew into a book and a film, all set in Jesus' bold proclamations of blessing on God's people. So, we're celebrating the 50th episode of PostConsumer Reports Podcast with a landmark episode. I talk with Stu G about the scope of his Beatitudes project as well as about his time in Delirious? You can find out more about the project at Stu G's various websites.
