All the Angles in New York City (Reds Series Recap, 9/18-9/20)

Despite injuries to Carlos Correa and Royce Lewis, the Minnesota Twins go to Cincinnati and take two from the playoff-seeking Reds, and they do so with a dramatic comeback in Game 3. Combined with some help from the Kansas City Royals, the Twins' magic number to clinch the AL Central Division is now down to one, and by the time they take the field again they might have already clinched. David and Dan, reunited after a couple episodes apart, try not to get too far ahead of themselves, though David still insists the Twins could earn the No. 2 seed and avoid the Wild Card Round. Dan is not convinced that both the supposed home run robberies in this series actually counted as such, and he is salty about the way Jayce Tingler handled Lewis in Game 2. David wonders who might be the third starter in a playoff series while also maintaining that Byron Buxton is a huge question mark heading into the playoffs. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

Cinderella or Pumpkin (Rays Series Recap, 9/11-9/13)

Cinderella or Pumpkin (Rays Series Recap, 9/11-9/13)

The Minnesota Twins get one win against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays and they seem quite content with just the one, losing a series to one of the best teams in the Majors. Dan and Hoges discuss the myriad questions this team has surrounding its roster the rest of the way, including whether players like Nick Gordon, Brock Stewart, Byron Buxton and Chris Paddack will find their way on a potential playoff roster. They also look back at the decisions Rocco Baldelli made during the series and the handful of memorable moments from players like Royce Lewis (who else?), Willi Castro and Max Kepler, who continues to prove his doubters wrong. The listeners have nearly locked up a season victory in Puckett's Picks, but Dan is holding out just a little bit of hope and turns in a different direction heading into the four-game series in Chicago. Thanks for listening, and go Twins.

    Max Kepler's Self-Portrait (Mets Series Recap, 9/8-9/10)

    Max Kepler's Self-Portrait (Mets Series Recap, 9/8-9/10)

For the fourth time in five series, the Minnesota Twins won more than their opponents did, taking two of three from the visiting New York Mets. With their lead in the AL Central Division at 7.5 games, David and Dan are both feeling pretty good, though they have lots of questions about who exactly will be on a postseason roster and in what capacity. They discuss the good pitching outings, especially the one from Pablo Lopez, as well as the oddities on the base paths and in the announcing booth. There is much to be said about Max Kepler's big play in Game 2 as well as how Rocco Baldelli handled the end of Game 3. They also wonder a bit about the team's Roberto Clemente Award nominee, and they look forward to a tight finish in the race for Puckett's Picks. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

To Have Hope, or to Go to Bed (Dodgers Series Recap, 5/15-5/17)

To Have Hope, or to Go to Bed (Dodgers Series Recap, 5/15-5/17)

Technically the Minnesota Twins lost two of three games to the Dodgers in Los Angeles this week, but neither David nor Dan are fully willing to admit it based on how the end of Game 1 went down, thanks to some bad umpiring. They discuss that as well as the Twins' bounce-back victory in Game 2 and a lackluster performance in Game 3. David returns and defends himself against the many attacks he feels he suffered from Dan and Hoges last episode while also trying to take the high road above the criticism. Dan praises the work of starter Bailey Ober, while David is forced to admit that he probably should have just taken Byron Buxton in Puckett's Picks for this series. They discuss the pending roster move to replace the injured Nick Gordon and wonder what the circumstances will be on June 1, when Royce Lewis is eligible to return from the 60-day IL. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!
