Holidanger: Scrooged & Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving

Holidanger: Scrooged & Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving

It’s December, so that means it’s time for the AIPT Movies podcast’s “Holidanger” series! Where we cover the best kind of holiday movie: the ones where lives are on the line! In this week’s episode, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss Richard Donner’s surprisingly dark and funny modern retelling of Charles Dickens’ Christmas classic, Scrooged!

A wonderful cast that features Bill Murray at what may be his all-time scummiest! A fake Lee Majors action movie! Bob Goulet's Old Fashioned Cajun Christmas! Timeless special effects mixed with classic Hollywood cinematography! The best interpretation of A Christmas Carol that doesn’t include Muppets! A perfect Christmas movie that captures the spirit of the season while also being oddly terrifying, funny, and deep! A mashup of several genres that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy while also scaring the “Dickens” out of you!

In addition, Alex shares his spoiler-free thoughts on Blue Beetle, Equalizer 3, and Eli Roth’s long-awaited Thanksgiving!

You can find AIPT Movies on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends!

The AIPT Movies podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! Hosted by supposed “industry vets,” Alex Harris, Tim Gardiner, and Matt Paul, the show gives you a peek behind the scenes from three filmmakers with oddly nonexistent filmographies. The Karol Markowicz Show: The Truth About Womanhood & Motherhood

In this episode, Karol discusses the controversy surrounding YouTube personality Mr. Beast's philanthropic efforts in Africa and the criticism he faced for monetizing his good deeds. Author Faith Moore joins to discuss his new book "Christmas Karol", which explores societal expectations and the balance between work and family life. The conversation challenges the narrative that women should prioritize their careers over spending time with their children and emphasizes the importance of making choices that align with personal values and desires. Moore also highlights the devaluation of children in society and the need to prioritize family. Animaniacs: A Christmas Plotz / Little Drummer Warners

🎄 After spending 3 months locked in a water tower, the Advent Calendar House has escaped in time for Christmas Podcast Day, a fake holiday originally made up for a hashtag back when social media was slightly less stupid.

It’s not Scrooge Sunday, but the theme for this year’s Christmas Podcast Day is “A Christmas Carol,” so I’m playing a long, but also cheating a little by covering both segments of a 1993 Christmas episode of “Animaniacs.”

You can follow #ChristmasPodcastDay on Facebook, Instagram, and that other one. And probably TikTok, but I’m not on that.

Episode 126: Michele Mulroney & Kieran Mulroney (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Power Rangers) Interview (The Sleeping Father After Show)

We have an incredibly insightful interview with Michele & Kieran Mulroney. If you haven’t listened to both episodes of their show The Sleeping Father, you must do so now. It’s truly outstanding! This interview is crucial for anyone who wants to know the real story of how so many careers in Hollywood go. It’s mandatory listening for aspiring writers and striking writers in a dry spell creatively. Michele & Kieran talk about getting their start in the business, adapting Dickens for dogs, and they discuss the ten year draught they had where they wrote a dozen spec screenplays that didn’t sell. You’re going to hear how they broke that losing streak in the best way possible: writing exactly what they wanted to write. It’s a must listen for anyone aspiring to work in Hollywood.

Podcast: Heat, thunderstorm and no swim warnings for Kent ahead of hottest weekend of the year

Podcast: Heat, thunderstorm and no swim warnings for Kent ahead of hottest weekend of the year

There's a heat health alert in force for Kent this weekend as we are set to get our first real blast of summer.

Forecasters say temperatures could reach around 30c but there are also concerns that could lead to thunderstorms in the north of the county.

Also in today's podcast, the issue of a Kent teenager who relies on medicinal cannabis to control a severe form of epilepsy has been raised in the house of Commons.

Teagan Appleby from Aylesham used to suffer hundreds of seizures a day, but her condition has been significantly improved by the drug. However, the private doctor who prescribes it is due to retire.

An historic building on the Isle of Sheppey has been brought back to life thanks to an incredible restoration programme.

The Dockyard Church in Sheerness has been derelict for the past 20 years and also suffered a devastating fire. It has now been transformed into a space for start-up companies.

Kent's biggest Pride event takes place in Canterbury this weekend.

For the first time, it'll be happening over two days rather than one and marks 50 years since the first ever Pride in Kent. Hear from one of the organisers and RuPaul Drag Race UK star Choriza May.

And in sport, Kent will be desperate to end their poor run of form in the T20 Blast later.

The Spitfires welcome Hampshire Hawkes to Canterbury tonight.

    Simon Callow

    Simon Callow
This week we welcome actor, writer and all-round cultural powerhouse, Simon Callow to the Third Act podcast. It was his part as Mozart in Amadeus that made him a star in the world of theatre, while Four Weddings and a Funeral made him a household name. As well as penning biographies on a variety of geniuses from Vagner to Dickens, Callow has proved that he can also turn his talents to song and dance as a director and opera producer. With host Catherine Fairweather, this prolific storyteller muses over the unexpected joys of growing older and also recalls the many performers, writers, performances and events that have left an indelible mark on his life.

    Potential Pick - Spirited

Chris and Taylor review the Christmas-themed musical comedy film "Spirited" written by Sean Anders and John Morris with direction by Anders.  The film is a modern retelling of Charles Dicken's 1843 novella "A Christmas Carol," in which the Ghost of Christmas Present is nearing retirement and sets his sights on fixing an "unredeemable" man.  The film stars Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, Octavia Spencer, Patrick Page, Tracy Morgan, Sunita Mani, Loren G. Woods and Aimee Carrero.
