Dj Emskee live set from the 1-year anniversary of the Make Love, Not War party @ Black Betty in Brooklyn, NYC (Emskee's b-day celebration) - 11/1/2008
Yet another late night recording from my Make Love,Not War party i used to have at the now defunct Black Betty in Brooklyn. Won't spend time talking about it in case there are some out there that don't know how special this place was. Just listen. Shouts to my man G Man who used to hold it down on the mic for the night. This was just before Barack Obama got elected so there's a lot of festive political energy exhibited by my man G. I think he meant every word of what he says. Ha ha Reminisce y'all. There will never be another like that place on Havemeyer and Metropolitan.

Dj Emskee live 1st set from RECORDnition No. 4 @ 2A in NYC - 1/19/13

Dj Emskee live 1st set from RECORDnition No. 4 @ 2A in NYC - 1/19/13
I'm really happy that this monthly party continues to grow in enthusiasm and popularity. Here's my first set from RECORDnition party no.4 where it's always a potpourri of music goodness. Once 10pm comes, you never know what direction me and Easy Mo Bee will take you. Enjoy what you missed if you weren't there. The guy that handles our live webstream tells me that during this party, it's the most hits he's ever gotten for people loggin on to listen. And it steady elevated through the night. I assume that's a good thing. ha ha. Enjoy y'all.

A Together Brothers Mix: Dj Emskee - "A Message In The Music"

A Together Brothers Mix: Dj Emskee - "A Message In The Music"
If you're already familiar with mixes on my page here, you've probably come across another Together Brothers mix. This was the second mix from me in a series that me my New York super dj compadres Monk One & Qool Marv were going to release as a collaboration project back in 2004. Some known and unknown funk and soul goodness right here that i'm sure you'll enjoy. Blended and mixed for your listening enjoyment. There's always a message in the music. As always, download, and bump and pass on to the next deserving heads of outside the box music listening.

Dj Emskee set from the "Salute The DJ" event at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival - Public Assembly Hall - 7/12/12

Dj Emskee set from the "Salute The DJ" event at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival - Public Assembly Hall - 7/12/12
Another bangin', all vinyl set of lost, seldom heard, and known classics from my performance at the "Salute The DJ" event as a part of the 8th annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival @ the Public Assembly Hall in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The energy was casual and ears were definitely open. Big up to my homey Monk One for making the connection to get me in this spot. Aside from the occasional skip of records in this set, it's definite another Emskee-style head-nodding trip. There are some curses some if you have kids around when listening, "rabbit ears" (as Vince Vaughn would say) would be the move. Bang loud and share with others.

Dj Emskee all soul/funk 45 set from the "Never Not Working" show on East Village Radio.com - 6/30/12

Dj Emskee all soul/funk 45 set from the "Never Not Working" show on East Village Radio.com - 6/30/12
Big up to my man Old Chris (an incredible record collector and overall super cool dude) and his man Oscar for the invitation down to their show to spin all 45's. Before this mix, i can't even remember when i even touched my 45 records last, so going through my OWN records looking for stuff to play was an adventure. Hope you feel the same when you check this out. The first record sounds kinda "sandy" starting out, but after that it's smooth sailing sound. I stand behind the idea of searching for and playing music that is off the beaten path of what regular radio and other modern media outlets offer, and gives the listener of my mixes an alternative to another world of sounds. This mix also includes the new banger that my group (The Good People - www.thegoodpeoplemusic.bandcamp.com) and Dj Format from the UK came together (PAUSE) to make. A joint called "Marisco". dedicated to the UK's longest running nightclub at 45 years, down in a magical southern coast of England town called Woolacombe. I'll try to snag a playlist later (i can't remember half the stuff i played)....but for now, blast and pass on to others. Support the real....and not the relaxed.

Dj Emskee: The Bellwether Gratuity Session (classic and obscure dance music mix) 5/26/12

Dj Emskee: The Bellwether Gratuity Session (classic and obscure dance music mix) 5/26/12
Peace. So the story behind this mix is that the live sets from the RARE RADIO CREW....LIVE party at Bellwether in Brooklyn, NYC that i had anticipated on posting, sadly didn't come out because of technical difficulties. It was simpy unplayable. You're missing a monstrous set from Easy Mo Bee, and of course myself, Tomcat, Randy Anderson, and Dj Monk One. BUT, i decided to go back into the same bag of records i had brought with me to the party and do a "thank you", or, "gratuity" mix for all the heads who turned out in support of the 1st ever Rare Radio Crew live event for listen/download. At least you can taste a little bit of the flavor i brought to the set. Press play and dance. Stay tuned for more info on the next RARE RADIO CREW....LIVE throwdown. If you're not familiar with us and you need more past archived mixes of mine from the radio show on WBAI 99.5fm in NYC, browse my account. You'll find more of what you're looking for. Promise.

Dj Emskee live set from the Rare Radio Show #31 on WBAI 99.5fm in New York City - December 27th, 2008
Here's another episode of the 11-year running classic and obscure dance music program, the Rare Radio Show that i co-founded and hosted throughout the years since 1999. This was a 10-hour special, and this is my opening set from that show. Straight classic NYC underground club music for the dance floor jones. Stay tuned on information reguarding the show making a return in 2012 in some capacity. Live venue and/or the radio station. As always, bump and pass on to other appreciative heads of good, authentic dance music. Peace!

Dj Emskee live set from Jeannie Hopper's legendary Liquid Sound Lounge Show - New Year's Eve 2011 - WBAI 99.5fm in NYC

Dj Emskee live set from Jeannie Hopper's legendary Liquid Sound Lounge Show - New Year's Eve 2011 - WBAI 99.5fm in NYC
I have the recording from last New Years Day 2011 when i filled in for her as well, but here's last nights New Year's Eve set on WBAI-FM in NYC. If you're not familar with Jeannie Hopper, she's been a staple on NYC radio with consistent underground, eclectic music mixes and very pertinent community information. Not too mention the fabulous boat parties and other functions she's affiliated with. It's always an honor when she contacts me to fill in on her show. More classic dance music mixing mastery right here. No cheese. Ever. Bump and pass y'all. Happy New.

Dj Emskee - "The So Ho Demo" Pt. 1 (March 2011)

Dj Emskee - "The So Ho Demo" Pt. 1 (March 2011)
So i spun out for the first time in awhile at a swanky place called the So Ho House in the meatpacking district of manhattan, nyc on friday night, March 25th. I was prepared to post the live recording of heat from the set me and my man Monk One were gonna lay down, but the recording was wack and unplayable so i erased it. I decided the next day to just make a mix at the crib of stuff that i had pulled out to play. This is close to what you would have heard if you came out. Thus, the creative "So Ho Demo" title. Classic, deep disco and other dance movement nuggets. This is Pt. 1, as i was prepared to play two hour long sets. Make sure you check pt.2 here on my page at well.
