Regional Rehabilitation Center Helps All Ages

About Us: Business owners, Chamber directors, industry leaders, Main Street Directors, school and hospital leaders discuss what's happening in North MS with station owner, Melinda Marsalis. Interviews are recorded in Ripley, MS at Sun Bear Studio, broadcast every Tuesday at 11 am on The Shark 102.3 FM Radio and added here to help you stay informed.   If you would like to be considered for an interview, you can call or email Melinda.  The Shark 102.3 FM Radio Station and Sun Bear Studio, located in Ripley, MS, are owned by Chris and Melinda Marsalis.  Chris and Melinda have a passion for community development and love all of the amazing things that are going on in North Mississippi.

This Week:   In this episode, Show Host Melinda Marsalis talks with Robby Parman, Executive Director of the Regional Rehabilitation Center.  Providing Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Dyslexia Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Early Intervention services for children birth to age three, the Regional Rehab Center is located in Tupelo but serves the entire North Mississippi area.

To date, the Center has provided therapeutic services to patients in 26 Mississippi counties. A 501c3, this non-profit organization has worked with over 55,000 people in its 68-year history - and has never charged one penny for its services nor billed insurance. The services are provided because of generous donations and community-driven fundraisers.  One of those annual fundraisers is coming up in September. The "Dan and Kay Matthews 'Road to Hope' Golf Tournament" will be held September 11 at both the Old Waverly Golf Course and the Mossy Oak Golf Course. Both courses are located in the West Point, MS area.

To donate to this worthy work, learn more about the Regional Rehab Center, or for more information on the upcoming golf tournament, call 662-842-1891 or go to: "www.regionalrehabcenter.com".

Radio Show: ALLMemphis: A United Vision of Community-Wide Literacy

Radio Show: ALLMemphis: A United Vision of Community-Wide Literacy

Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Dr. Krista Johnson, Founder and Executive Director of ALLMemphis, who shares some of her personal story and what led her to start the nonprofit in 2017 with a focus of dramatically increasing literacy and education equity throughout the Memphis community. ALLMemphis' core initiative is to train teachers and literacy coaches in the methods of Orton-Gillingham - a multi-sensory approach to literacy instruction that historically has been limited to dyslexia therapy and communities of affluence - and then provide a multi-year mentorship to support the implementation of the approach in charter and public schools. During the interview, Krista talks about the importance of focusing on literacy, the ripple impact it has in the community, their model and how it is making a difference, how the community can support their efforts and more.
