David Ellefson of Megadeth, Interview Part 1 - There Goes My Hero

David Ellefson of Megadeth, Interview Part 1 - There Goes My Hero

David Ellefson has been keeping himself rather busy - from working on Megadeth's 16th album and solo music to connecting youth musicians with all-star instructors through his "School's Out" initiative. So how does David hope the initiative will continue to help both new and established artists during the COVID-19 pandemic? What inspired him to cover Post Malone's "Over Now" (and what did the rapper think of the cover)? Why is it important to the legendary bassist that Megadeth record their new album in-person versus remotely? And how did meeting Cheap Trick as a teenager influence the way he handles himself in front of fans today?

Find out what David reveals in “There Goes My Hero” - an interview series where Matt and Zach talk to their favorite artists about the first time they met their idols. Hear our guests relive every glorious (and possibly embarrassing) moment from encountering their musical heroes, and how that experience impacted them for the rest of their lives.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our chat with the Megadeth bassist!

The World Needs A Hero! After the negative reception of 1999's 'Risk' Dave Mustaine made the decision to have Megadeth return to their thrash roots. Word got out about this on the 'Risk' tour in 2000. With a strong Behind the Music episode and much fan anticipation Megadeth released this ablum in May of 2001 and pleased many die-hard Mega-Fans. Listen in as we discuss this era and album of Megadeth. Next time, we discuss 2004's 'The System Has Failed' www.apodcastandacd.com @APodcastandaCd

    Megadeth - Youthanasia (1994)

    Megadeth - Youthanasia (1994)

Megadeth's 'Youthanasia' was the follow-up to the very successful 'Countdown to Extinction'. It had a huge act to follow. Released in a completely different music climate than 'Countdown' Youthanasia sold well and was received well overall. Megadeth moved their recording operation to Arizona for this record, and built their own studio for this project.
