I've talked a little bit on the show about the growing/exloding clown scene in LA and how it's becoming a 4th genre of comedy after stand-up, sketch, and improv. It's way different than the type of clowning you're familiar with (see the episode with Gilly the Clown for that btw). This type of clowning (or just "Clown") is a performance that thrives in chaos and failure and it's actually still figuring itself out.
Well Chad Damiani is one of the pioneers of that scene and one of the main people helping to define it. He also does a stand-up act with characters that fucking kill me. And he worked for WCW during the Monday Night Wars, so I definitely asked about that too.

Opera was born during the Renaissance as an attempt to recreate the experience of an ancient Greek play as it would have been performed in the Theater of Dionysus in Athens. In this episode, Marc Eliot Stein and Lisa Geraghty talk about the greatest of several operas about one particular Greek myth: "Orfeo ed Euridice" by Christoph Willibald Gluck, which tells the story of the musician Orpheus's descent into the Underworld to retrieve his beloved wife Eurydice back from the dead. We also talk about Charlie Daniels Band, Arcade Fire, "Black Orpheus", Rainer Maria Rilke and Jacques Offenbach's wild satire "Orphee aux Enfers", a French comic opera that twisted Gluck's masterpiece into something entirely different. A refreshing descent into the joys of early classical opera!
The end is nigh! If you squint just right you can see it from here. We're almost done counting down our favourite fifty games of all time, so join us in the penultimate part of our five part series.

There's a saying; you give a man information about black holes, he'll learn for a day. If you put him inside a black hole, it will slow his time down to a stop which we would see forever. That... sort of sucks. What we're getting at here is, this episode is pretty cool. Give yourself a net full of cosmic fish and feast for a lifetime on this follow-up space show highlighting dark matter, spacetime, and a dozen of other cosmic quandaries. Who ages faster - a person on earth or person in space? Where should you live on the earth if you want to age slower? How soon after your space mask breaks in space will you perish? What does space smell like? Does time exist in space? How cold is it up there? Strap on your space suit and give a listen. The tiny space explorer inside you is ready.
We’ve all gazed up at the stars and wondered - what exactly is out there? The infiniteness of space is downright unfathomable. Then there’s those pesky black holes, believed to suck up everything in their path. And dark matter? Escape Velocity? Time dilation? What does it all mean man? As mere specks of flesh in the vast cosmos, we are no more than a metaphorical ant gazing up at a giant; unable to actually comprehend the significance of it all. On today’s show we do our best to figure it all out. Spoiler alert - we don’t. But exactly what are black holes? Are they a portals to other dimensions? How about the idea that you age slower in space than you do on earth? There are so many other cosmic questions we tackle as we sit down with the smartest man we know, Marc Ellis, who will knock your space boots off with his knowledge of the universe. Today’s show will educate. Check back next week for a deeper philosophical dive into what it all means. Sir Matthew joins us at (26:30).
Today on Women Worldwide, I’d like to discuss the challenges that come from change. Change is a constant in the life of an entrepreneur, and with change comes ambiguity, surprises, personal fears—sometimes it can really feel as if you’ve been upended.
Our guest Kristina DiPalo is the founder and driving force behind DailyWorkLife. Having worked in corporate America for many years, first in financial services, then in pharmaceuticals and HR, Kristina finally launched her own consulting firm, Elysian Communications, in 2011. Her firm focuses on two main objectives: helping companies deal with big change and helping leaders become better reflections of their true selves through coaching.
Follow along as Kristina shares the personal truths all entrepreneurs must understand, why women leaders need built up in business more than ever, and how her own personal career has been one of happy accidents.

Quotes in This Episode
“There are certain social and cultural stereotypes, archetypes, that we're all ingrained in and we all follow one way or the other. There's a way that women are judged in political environments, in business environments, in social environments, that is different than the way that men are judged.” —Kristina DiPalo
“There's an incredible amount of talent that's left out of the conversation. Less than 20% of all Fortune 500 CEOs are women... Yet women are, if you look at global statistics, slightly under 50% of the global population. Half the population is really not represented, so half the ideas, half the experience, half the ability is just being left off the table. That, to me, has very broad long-term implications.” —Kristina DiPalo
“People who are entrepreneurs, or solopreneurs (to use that catchphrase): We have to give ourselves the permission to invest, even if we don't see a direct one-to-one payoff.” —Kristina DiPalo
“With each experience that I have had, I've tried to go toward work that I am curious about, something where I know that I am going to be growing and learning.” —Kristina DiPalo
“There are going to be good periods. There'll be not-so-good periods. You have to be willing to step into space that is very new and very different. It may feel kind of uncomfortable and strange at first, but also quite wonderful.” —Kristina DiPalo
