Throughout the Gospels, people had amazing encounters with Jesus. These were ordinary people who were forever changed by their encounters with Him. With this series, as we walk through the season of Lent, we'll see how these people were changed by Jesus and recognize that through our own encounters with Jesus, He can change us, too.  With this series, we will also refocus our hearts and minds on Jesus, on who he was, what he taught, and the meaning of his death, as we prepare to celebrate his resurrection on Easter Sunday.

“A Dishonest Man”

A dishonest tax collector named Zacchaeus encountered Jesus, and when he did, not only did his life change, but his values changed, too. As we encounter Jesus, our lives and values are also supposed to change.

“A Woman at a Well” 

John 4:1-26, 39-42

A woman at a well had an encounter with Jesus, and it changed her life and the lives of others in her town, as she and they came to believe in Him as their savior. As we encounter Jesus, He calls us to believe in Him and receive Him as our savior, too.

Today we are wrapping up our series on Encounters with Jesus. We will close it off by talking about Saul/Paul. Acts 9:1-19 is where we see the conversion of Saul. Jesus comes to Saul because he sees the potential. Saul is breathing out murderous threats and wants to see the followers of Jesus die...a direction shift will need to occur.

Today we explore an interaction from Matthew 15:21-28. There is a Gentile woman who approaches Jesus and pleads with him to heal her daughter. We are continuing the conversation we started yesterday about the Raising of Lazarus in John 11. We focus on the phrase that is used in John 11:33 and 11:38. Jesus was moved in his spirit. The whole thing didn't sit well with Jesus, Why? It seems like Jesus already knew what would happen. Why be angry or sad? Listen and I'll talk through it.

Today we have an encounter with a man who has been sick for 38 years. John 5:1-15 gives us the story of this encounter that Jesus asks one man, "Would you like to get well?" Come on Jesus, is that a real question? Doesn't everyone want to be healed? We are going to explore this encounter today.
