Ray Bradbury 1983 - writing, living and the power of imagination

Ray Bradbury 1983 - writing, living and the power of imagination

Ray Bradbury talks about his beginnings as a writer and his personal connection to two stories Dandelion Wine and Something Wicked This Way Comes then moves on to talk about converting his stories for the silver screen.  He goes into depth about what is involved when you convert one of your own stories into a movie and contrasts  with his work as screenwriter for the movie Moby Dick.
Having written and published scores of poems Bradbury talks about how poetry can pave the way for the compression of ideas and images a movie needs.  He then ends with the best advice for how young writers should navigate their career without breaking their spirit or their heart.

Fahrenheit 451 - book propaganda or flamethrower celebration?

Fahrenheit 451 - book propaganda or flamethrower celebration?

Guy Montag is a fireman - one whose job is to burn books, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag and his wife, Mildred (who spends all day with her television ‘family’) had never questioned his life as a fireman, until he meets his eccentric young neighbor, Clarisse. Clarisse introduces him to a bigger world and new ideas, and Montag begins to question everything he has ever known.

    5. Book Burning in the 21st Century: Ray Bradbury and Cancel Culture

We couldn't leave Fahrenheit without touching on some, sadly, burning topics of present times -- censorship, cancel culture and, yes, book burning. Is it true that extremes touch? And what does Bradbury have to say about this whole issue? Bear with us on this slightly longer episode, as we slog through dangerous territory trying to make some sense of it all.

    Season 5: Dystopia Myopia - Fahrenheit 451 (Episode 6)

In the sixth episode of Season 5 (Dystopia Myopia) Kyle is joined by fellow podcasters Ben Thelen (of the Dead Reckoner Podcast) and Zax Protzmann (of the West Coast Popcast) to discuss Francois Truffaut's faulty and yet immensely humorous adaptation of Ray Bradbury's foundational dystopian novel about censorship and thought crime, Fahrenheit 451.

    Fahrenheit 451

    Fahrenheit 451

    EP4 Fahrenheit 451

    EP4 Fahrenheit 451

Three little words. A small question. Are you happy? A harmless question, right? Or is it an earthworm burrowing its way into your brain with a never-ending hunger for a compliant existence that you can’t even remember choosing?

Fahrenheit 451, the classic science fiction dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury, is the story of Guy Montag, a fireman tasked to burn books, and thus critical thinking, decides to fight back.

In this month’s episodes we will examine change as an epic force in the lives of Guy Montag from Fahrenheit 451 and Count Alexander Rostov from A Gentleman in Moscow, two very different male protagonists, one very timeless struggle.

ACHTUNG ACHTUNG: Wir machen 6 Wochen Pause ab dem 25. Januar.
