First Steps: How Upright Walking Made Us Human with Dr. Jeremy DeSilva

Welcome again Cave Dwellers and Thank You for joining me on another episode of The Neanderthal Mind. Today we sit down with Jeremy DeSilva. Jeremy, or "Jerry" as he sometimes prefers, is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Dartmouth College. He is a paleoanthropologist, specializing in the locomotion of the first apes and early human ancestors, (hominoids & hominins respectfully). His particular anatomical expertise-- the human foot and ankle-- has contributed to our understanding of the origins and evolution of upright walking in the human lineage. He has studied wild chimpanzees in Western Uganda and early human fossils in Museums throughout Eastern and South Africa. From 1998-2003, Jerry worked as an educator at the Boston Museum of Science and continues to be passionate about science education. He is the author of the 2021 book First Steps: How Upright Walking Made Us Human. Jerry lives in Norwich, VT with his wife Erin and their twins Ben and Josie. Dr. DeSilva has also been involved with some of the more recent, history making discoveries from Rising Star, as well as the Famous footprints of Laetoli. It was an awesome conversation and an unparalleled education for me in Neanderthal Cousins and Early Human Ancestors. So, sit back, relax and enjoy the show. I will see you on the flip side Cave Dwellers.

Little Kids: What It’s Really Like Being A Young, Single Mum

Little Kids: What It’s Really Like Being A Young, Single Mum

From getting the kids out the door on time, to bathtime and making dinner, it’s hard enough to get stuff done with the little ones, let alone all by yourself in a pandemic.

Leigh and Tegan chat to single mum of identical twins Emily Neal, about what life is really like as a young solo parent in lockdown.

Plus,Tegan’s WTF of the week is the horrid foot and mouth disease, while Leigh’s is a wobbly milestone.

welcome to this episode of the project and I am joined the yoga instructor who, I don't know her first or last name, but I do know your Instagram name. It's the same person. Yes. And that's how you make me look like an idiot. That's cool. Thanks for coming on the show. And especially to talk about yoga. I think you were saying earlier that it's a very hot topic, right? I mean, is it goose, is it booming right now? Kuwait?
