Sometimes, two people fall in love and choose to get married, one or both of those people have young children from a previous relationship, and a wonderful new blended family is formed. But it’s not always so clear cut. Enter Sean Carrillo, a media maker, technical director, writer, former-famous-coffee-shop-owner, and family man. Sean also happens to be the stepfather of accomplished musician Beck and artistic polymath Channing Hansen. Sean joins the Modern Dadhood conversation to discuss his family of artists, and how his parenting experience has felt a lot like hanging out with a group of friends. Episode 40 is a very special and personal one for Adam, and he wastes no time sharing about it. The episode is a continuation of Modern Dadhood’s exploration on what it means to be a stepfather. In a sharp contrast to Episode 39’s guest Rafael Torres, the guys welcome Sean Carrillo into the conversation. At 60 years old, Sean’s career has taken him from the performing arts to commercial and film production, directing, and editorial, to curating live events... and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Sean has been a stepfather for almost 40 years, and his family dynamic is far from typical. His wife Bibbe Hansen is a performance artist and actress, a protégé of Andy Warhol when she was young. Bibbe’s late father is Al Hansen, the renowned Fluxus artist. And his stepchildren are artist Channing Hansen, and musician Beck—a longtime favorite of Adam’s.

Sean shares about growing up in Los Angeles in the 60s and 70s, meeting Bibbe while a member of the performance art group ASCO, and marrying her in the early 1980s when Beck and Channing were 12 and 10 years old, respectively. In a particularly unique step-parenting situation, Sean found that hanging with Bibbe and the boys, along with Rain Whittaker, a family friend who they took under their wing, felt more like hanging out with a group of peers than a  traditional parents/kids dynamic. Deviation-eine Chance?

Es war der 51. Teil der von Astrid Rieder einmal im Monat immer am 2. Donnerstag durchgeführten do trans-Art Serie. Die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Jazzpianisten Saeed Borna folgt zwar demselben Konzept, wie die Verbindung mit zeitgenössischer Musik, stellt jedoch bei genauer Betrachtung eine Abweichung von der ihr sonst sehr wichtigen frei atonalen zeitgenössischen Musik dar. Saeed Borna seinerseits ist auch sehr bestrebt, seine Standards durch spontane Kompositionen zu erweitern. Für die trans-Art Künstlerin  ist diese Form von Deviation ein Ausdruck der beidseitigen Bereitschaft aufeinander zu zu gehen und einen konstruktiven Dialog zu suchen. Machen sie sich selbst einen Eindruck von dieser Zusammenarbeit.

Im interaktiven Dialog zwischen bildender Kunst und musikalischer Erfahrung steht die Serie do trans-Art von Astrid Rieder in ihrem Atelier in der Bundesstraße 37 in Wals-Siezenheim.

Seit Jänner 2019 treten dort MusikerInnen aus aller Welt gemeinsam mit der Künstlerin auf, um das Zusammenspiel der Künste zu erfahren. Doch nicht nur in Salzburg erlebt man diese Synthese: Astrid Rieder erzählt in der Radiofabrik von weiteren trans-Art Performances in Lissabon und Belmonte.

Wie der Gesang und die gesamte Kunstszene durch COVID 19 ganz schön durcheinander gewirbelt wird, hört man in dieser Sendung, wenn Astrid Rieder mit der Sängerin und Querflötistin Celina Hubmann vor der 49. Darbietung der Serie do trans-Art ein Gespräch miteinander führt. Ja und den akustischen Part dieser Composition graphique musicale kann man ebenso hören!

Die 48. Darbietung der Serie do trans-Art war nach dem Shut down die reinste Wohltat! Das Publikum konnte wieder zur Performance kommen und hatte auch zahlreich die Möglichkeit genutzt. Der Wiener Cellist Sebastian Jolles musste sich nicht mehr durch den Virtuellen Tunnel zu meiner Papierenen Leinwand bemühen, um mit mir zusammen zu arbeiten, sondern war mit seinem Cello nur 2m von mir entfernt im selben Atelierraum in der Bundesstraße 37 in Wals-Siezenheim. Die Turbulenzen der Corona Krise haben aufgezeigt, wie wichtig das reale Kommunizieren für Menschen ist. Wir müssen Verbindungen spüren und immer wieder aufs Neue Austausch betreiben. Das partnerschaftliche Tun in do trans-Art auf hohem künstlerischen Niveau hat sich wieder voll entfalten können. Die körperliche Anwesenheit ist wieder greifbar und der Unterschied zur virtuellen Kommunikation für jeden gut fühlbar, besonders nachdem es über längere Zeit  nicht möglich war.

Bei dieser im Mai 2020 aufgenommenen do trans-Art Performance konnte der Pianist Alexei Grots bereits in mein  Atelier in Wals-Siezenheim bei Salzburg, kommen. Er hat mit großer Freude am Flügel und am E-Piano, manchmal sogar auf beiden zugleich den akustischen Part der Composition graphique musicale geschaffen. Das Publikum konnte noch nicht ins Atelier kommen, verfolgte die Performance in den sozialen Medien.

Aus ihrem Homeoffice während der Corona Pandemie berichtet Astrid Rieder über die 46. Darbietung der do trans-Art Performance Serie, wie sie überhaupt durchgeführt werden konnte, der Performancepartner Sebastian Jolles aus Wien mitarbeitete, und wie der akustische Part der Composition graphique musicale in diese Radiosendung verpackt wurde.
