EP:164 PACT - Peace of Mind For Your Pets When You Are Deployed

Are you deploying and need help with your pets? Are you a Veteran and need surgery or have healthcare needs you are putting off because you have pets?

In this episode, Tyler talks with Betsy M. Kilkenny, Executive Director for PACT stands for People + Animals = Companions Together, about their mission to provide programs that benefit companion animals and their owners.

PACT is a network of passionate people who know the power of the human-animal bond and work hard to protect it. PACT is a constantly growing community of animal lovers that support each other and recognize the connection between a person and their pet goes beyond life’s temporary, unpredictable crises. They are constantly expanding this network as more people become aware of our work and join them in protecting the human-animal bond by fostering companion animals or providing other support to people and pets in need. PACT works towards a world where no beloved companion animals are unwillingly surrendered to shelters because of a temporary military or medical crisis.

Please share PACT information as they do not advertise and need your help to spread the word.

PACT is searching for points of contact within the Housing or the Family Readiness programs on military bases to help service members with their pet care needs when services members are being deployed or hospitalized.

If you are a Veteran and need to have your own surgery and long term recovery, let PACT. help you with your pet's care while you take care of your own personal healthcare necessities.

If you have a point of contact near you that helps Veterans please share PACT's information.

A foster mum creating a home where you belong. Special Guest: Nadine Taylor

A foster mum creating a home where you belong. Special Guest: Nadine Taylor

The fostering world is a landmine area. Children are in need, but they can resent their new home. Trauma is real, but can become strangely normal to children. Carers can wholeheartedly want to nurture, but they can get burnt out by the daily demands. And then there is the need to work in a system that is designed to safeguard children in care, but is always restricted by financial, time and professional restraints. Foster care is it seems, all about extremes.

Nadine tackles this world of foster care with such enthusiasm it is contagious. She is one of those people that turns your head. She has a wonderful balance of big heart, clear head and loads of common sense. She brings these gifts to her family; her foster children and her biological family. Recently acknowledged with the '2022 Darling Downs Child Protection Award' I am delighted that Nadine took this time to share her experiences and life wisdom on this podcast.

FASD & Cognitive Supports with Nate Sheets

Welcome to FASD Family Life the podcast for families by families where we get real about raising children and youth with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. I’m your host, Robbie Seale, FASD Educator, advocate and mom of four children with FASD.  I know the struggle is real, but so is success. I hope that sharing my experiences can help you feel that you are not alone and that there is hope for you and your child with FASD.

With more than 20 years lived experience I know it can be a struggle to find resources and research to support you, your family, and your child with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. That's why I have embarked on a new initiative to interview the movers and shakers in the FASD Research and Resources community. Every Monday I will drop a Research & Resource episode to give you information on a variety of FASD Networks, resources, training events, and conferences. I will also bring you information on fascinating FASD studies for your participation and interest.

This episode of FASD Family Life Research & Resources edition I am priviledged to speak with Nate Sheets of Cognitive Supports/Oregon Behaviour Consultation. Nate specializes in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, Autism, and Foster Care. In addition to his consulation practice Nate has a series of training videos on Youtube which I highly recommend for anyone interested in learning about FASD.
