    The Happiest Millionaire

    The Happiest Millionaire

This week the society experiences the 1967 Disney spectacle The Happiest Millionaire, directed by podcast fixture Norman Tokar and starring Fred MacMurray, Tommy Steele, and Leslie Ann Warren.  Experience the breathtaking musical extravaganza through the eyes of Andy, or resident critic who going into this quite-lengthy film claimed to "not like musicals."  Or through the eyes of our historian, Michael Crawford, who once received the soundtrack on LP as a teenager for a birthday present.  Will their opinions hold?  Will minds be changed?  Tune in this week as we strengthen the dwelling of the Medfield College Film Society!

    The Absent-Minded Professor

    The Absent-Minded Professor

Sean and Brad review the 1961 classic The Absent-Minded Professor.   They talk about what flubber sounds like, what Brad's dunks, when he could dunk, looked like (hint: it looked like a white guy from 1961), and about 25 different parts of the basketball scene.  Is this one of the best basketball scenes in cinema?  We think it might be.

‘Double Indemnity’ with ‘Lingua Franca’ Director Isabel Sandoval

We are joined by a truly magnetic and unique voice in filmmaking, director/writer/actor Isabel Sandoval. She calls in from New York to discuss the film noir classic, Double Indemnity. Isabel has so much to cover on the craft of filmmaking. She discusses the power of the human face as a tool for storytelling, and why it so often leaves dialogue superfluous. She and April dissect Isabel’s latest film, Lingua Franca, and why all of her film’s center around women. Isabel also reveals her feelings on the current state of Filipino cinema, and why she wants to stay away from her films being labeled “poverty porn.” And lastly, Isabel shares her ultimate goal for her career; for her films to be considered their own film genre.

    Double Indemnity

Episode 3 of Insurable Interest reviews Double Indemnity (1944) from an insurance point of view. Times have changed, but not that much; murder is still murder, and putting ketchup on a hot dog is still totally unacceptable.

    Where to watch Double Indemnity:

    The Run-down on Double Indemnity:

Somewhat surprisingly, I don't think there are any insured losses in this entire film.
