今週はニューロダイバーシティとテクノロジーに関するシンポジウム「Celebrating Neurodiversity」からCelebratory Technologyという言葉を考案したチャップマン大学LouAnne Boyd助教授のスピーチをお届けしました。

特別支援教育部門で自閉症のコーディネーターを務めていたこともあるBoyd助教授は現在、ニューロダイバーシティをテクノロジーで実現すべく研究を進めています。今回のシンポジウムの中核企画メンバーでもあります。

そんな彼女が今回のシンポジウムを開催するにあたりキーワードとして掲げたのがCelebratory Technologyでした。

Boyd助教授がこの単語に込めた思いと、それを実現するための”変革への道”についてお届けしました。

We also discuss our concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the possible increases in infections due to the extended holiday break.

As a follow-up to our previous conversation on parental leave, we discuss housework in Japan in this episode, specifically the distribution of housework between husbands and wives. We also take a closer look at the number of hours of housework spent by each spouse and discuss how housework can be gendered.

In this episode, we discuss parental leave in Japan, focusing on paternity leave and the Japanese's attitudes toward men taking a leave of absence from work. We notice a big gap between what Japanese law offers and men's willingness to take leave. We also took this opportunity to make quick comparisons with other countries regarding attitudes and laws.

This episode was recorded in response to the Twitter exchanges between Elon Musk (CEO of Tesla) and David Beasley (Director of UN WFP) regarding world hunger. We also took this opportunity to discuss food loss, both from a global and Japanese context. 

今回はエピソードを数ヶ月遅れてアップロードしてしまったことを（何度も）お詫び申し上げます。このエピソードは、昨年10月にイーロン・マスク（テスラのCEO）とデイヴィッド・ビーズリー（UN WFPのディレクター）の間で世界の飢餓に関するTwitter上のやり取りに応じる形でレコーディングをしました。また、この機会を利用して、国際的な文脈と日本の文脈の両方から、食品ロスについて話し合いました。

In this episode, we reflect on the Japanese royal family while referring to the upcoming marriage between Princess Mako and her fiancé Komuro Kei, who is a commoner. Specifically, we discuss the gossip surrounding the couple while also referring to the other members of the royal family.

In this episode, we explain the theory of the Tragedy of the Commons, an economic theory that explains humanity’s behavior towards the natural environment, specifically our behavior to extract natural resources and consume. We discuss the implications as well as possible solutions towards our desire to consume. 

20. このエピソードでは、環境用語で使われる「共有地の悲劇」を取り上げています。誰でも自由に利用できる（オープンアクセス）状態にある共有資源（出入り自由な放牧場や漁場など）が、管理がうまくいかないために、過剰に摂取され資源の劣化が起ることで、ギャレット・ハーディンの著書「共有地の悲劇」によって提唱され、反共産主義への理論的根拠ともされています。解決策はあるのでしょうか。

In this episode, we decided to list and discuss the major events that have occurred during the two months we were not recording. Topics discussed include the COVID-19 pandemic, the UN climate report, withdrawal of US troops in Afghanistan, among others. We plan to discuss some of these topics in-depth in future episodes.
