"Why Were You Mute Spectator For Hate Speech On TV News": SC Pulls Up Modi Govt, TV News Channels

"Why Were You Mute Spectator For Hate Speech On TV News": SC Pulls Up Modi Govt, TV News Channels

The apex court in the country yesterday voiced concern about rising instances of hate speech on air and lambasted the functioning of the tv news channels in the country. The court said that the TV news channels often give space to hate speech and escape without any sanction or reprimand. Not only that, the judges used an example of a news channel banned in the UK to drive home the point. What prompted SC's stern comments on TV news media and the role of the govt? Arti Ghargi explains in the video.

We also talk about Zomato and Swiggy being investigated by the CCI for alleged unfair trade practices by the National Restaurants Association of India, and more. We also discuss which of the panelists order food frequently from the aforementioned apps, and how Navin avoids spending exorbitant amounts on Swiggy-Zomato by making rice or roti at home. Finally, we talk about Yati Narasinghanand Saraswati's hate-speech at the “Hindu Mahapanchayat” at Burari in New Delhi on Sunday and there were no answers why the Delhi police allowed an unauthorised programme to be held at a prominent public ground where journalists also got attacked. Hindu Mahapanchayat: Serial Offendor Yati Narsinghanand Delivers Hate Speech Again While Out On Bail

"Yati Narsinghanand the controversial temple priest known for spewing venom against minority community from time to time is at it again. This time the man has made another speech with a call for violence that too when he is on bail in a case related to Haridwar Hate speech. In a Hindu Mahapanchayat event held at Delhi's Burari, Yati Narsinghanand purportedly said that 50 per cent of Hindus would be converted, 40 per cent killed and ten per cent exiled if a Muslim was to become the prime minister of India. A video of Yati Narsinghanand speaking at the event on Sunday has emerged on social media. HW News Network could not independently verify the veracity of the video. However, several claims are made that this video was taken during his speech at Hindu Mahapanchayat event. Arti ghargi explains.

Sociale mediers ansvar for ulovligt indhold

Sociale mediers ansvar for ulovligt indhold

Ep. 463: How Not To Regulate Disinformation

Ep. 463: How Not To Regulate Disinformation

The Kerala State government has backed down from amending its Police Act to include imprisonment for social media posts considered "offensive" or "defamatory". But different efforts to tackle disinformation across the country throughout 2020 indicate that we risk short-term responses without considering the long-term fall out. In this episode, Rohan Seth talks to Prateek Waghre about how we should not regulate disinformation and principles we could use to approach this question.

    Ep. 168: Consumed in moderation

Facebook, the social network everyone loves to hate has been grappling with the free speech v/s content moderation conundrum for several years now. In the first half of 2020, they are going beyond "Community Standards" and establishing an oversight board. Simblified is:
An Indian podcast that takes things that happen around us and deconstructs them in a manner you can understand and impress your colleagues, next interviewer, date or cat. Run by four folks seeking a return to the "good ol' days of Twitter" - Chuck, Naren, Srikeit & Tony, Simblified has the guarantee of "if we can understand it, you can!" and proceeds to look at everything from technology to politics to weird phenomena to questions you never knew you wanted to be answered. Along the way, you'll hear lots of bad jokes, facts, PG Wodehouse references, and more bad jokes. Hopefully, you'll have a laugh.

Bringt das was?
