Here Healing Wisdom caught up with bandleader Adam Elk of the Mommyheads. Just back from a tour in Sweden, we talk about their new album Coney Island Kid, and a new fan-created musical.

Trumpeter, band leader and Composer Frank London of the Grammy Winning The Klezmatics just released a Chanukah Album, Chronika with his Klezmer Brass All Stars. The Healing Wisdom Radio Show speaks with Frank on WOMR. Members of the the contemporary Nordic folk band FRÄNDER, Gabbi Dluzewski and Säde Tatar, talk about incorporating traditional Estonian and Swedish music, their new release, a climate change song called “Eternal Rain” off their album Fränder II, and living in a Bronze Age Viking village. The Grammy-nominated, Canadian-Cuban duo Okan releases their 3rd album, Okantomi, on November 8th. Vocalist/violinist Elizabeth Rodriguez and vocalist/percussionist Magdelys Savigne celebrate life and Afro-Cuban culture with this album. Tracks incorporate traditional Lucumí chants, while facing the complexities of immigration and their ambivalence about going home, because of the oppressive Cuban government. Here the couple  discuss their spiritual traditions.

Carol Band has graced the stage at many Boston-area clubs including Johnny D’s, Ryles, the Lilypad and The House of Blues.

Paul Giovine has opened shows for legends such as Bo Diddley, Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis. He studied Music Education at the University of Connecticut, then transferred to the Berklee College of Music. Paul studied with Mike Mangini (Extreme, Stevie Vai, Dream Theater) and Joe Pet (The Joe Perry Project). Paul has opened for artists such as The Gin Blossoms, Jessica Simpson & Colin Raye and performed live with blues guitarist Keb’ Mo.’

Adam bounced around in basement bands while in music school joining two early 2000's Boston indie troubadours: The Grownup Noise who toured much of the country many times with, and post-punk rockers Horeshands. He divides his time working as a music therapist at Mass General with oncology patients and with special needs students.

Founding Director Rebecca Ann Robertson talks about the importance of Melipona bees in the ecosystem of the Yucatan, the unique health benefits of melipona honey, the work The Melipona Bee Project has done with modern indigenous people in the region and about the spiritual connection ancient people in the Mayan and Greece cultures had with bees.
