Are you truly consistently joyful, day in and day out? Or is joy elusive or, at best, a “come and go” type of thing? Have you given up on expecting a consistently joyful life? Sermon: Running With Jesus

    Sermon: Running With Jesus

“…. A truly abundant life is not measured in possessions, or money, or status.  An abundant life is measured in faith and faith can’t be with us when we run with the weight of sin in our lives.”

In a sermon recorded live at New Bethel, Pastor Marben explores the example that Jesus has set as we run the race of our lives in a sermon from Hebrews 12:1-2 entitled Running With Jesus.

    Devotional: Running With Jesus

    Devotional: Running With Jesus

You know sometimes it is difficult to understand a passage of scripture.  Words and phrasing get in the way making it almost impossible to get meaning from the Word of God.  Then there are passages like Hebrews 12:1 and 2 the text describes our lives like a race whose running is being watched by a great cloud of witnesses both heavenly and earthly.  We are called to do three things as we run, first, we are called to lay aside the weight of sin which will hinder our progress, second, we are to run with perseverance for clearly there will be times when the race will be hard, and finally, we are to look to Jesus as we run, for Jesus who endured the cross, disregarding its shame is the pioneer and perfector of our faith.

I invite you to learn more about the race that we are running as we explore Hebrews 12:1-2 in a message entitled Running with Jesus -Running with power Running with Joy.  Our Sunday School is at 10:00 AM ET and worship will start at 11:00 AM ET. As always we are on zoom and Facebook @nbcdublin. So, until then blessings, peace, and love.

    Hebrews 12:1-2

    Hebrews 12:1-2

Do you know what I mean by “starting blocks”?

You would if you ran track in high school
    – blocks are placed on a track provide stable brace for the runners’ feet
    • Olympic athletes spend time at the blocks, testing and adjusting them
    ◦ because that first push-off is critical to a fast start
    • part of their workout is practicing their starts
    – the writer of Hebrews is not telling us to settle into the starting blocks
    • instead, the race has already begun
    • like a good coach, he is telling us how to run the race
