The Wickedest Man in the World in New Hampshire

In Episode 311 Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger explore a small cottage in Hebron, New Hampshire, searching for the summer retreat of Aleister Crowley: The Wickedest Man in the World. During the summer of 1916, Crowley came to this cottage to conduct secret and arcane magick. He performed rituals, he wrote about his religion Thelema, he described a visit from a strange fireball, and he communed with nature around Hebron. He left a mark on this small town.

    Get off the Fence

    Get off the Fence
God is whole hearted and wants us to be the same - not half-hearted or double-minded. He wants us to trust in Him and be fully committed to Him. While we are on the fence, in a place of indecision, we're not safe. This is seen in Joab's revenge on Abner, when he lured him into the gates of Hebron (2Sam 3:27). The gates of a city represent the place of decision, where you are neither in or out. Hebron was a city of refuge (a picture of Christ) and Abner was safe while inside the city (trusting in Christ), but when Joab (the enemy) persuaded him to meet with him in the gates (the place of indecision), he was unsafe, and the enemy was able to destroy him. This is why David said that Abner died the death of a fool. Likewise, when we remain in two minds about whether we should respond to Christ or trust in His Word or whether to obey God or not, we are 'in the gate', which is not a safe place. We are vulnerable to the enemy. God wants us to get off the fence!

    Summary of Abraham

    Summary of Abraham
The Father of Faith. After Sarah died, Abraham had children with his concubine. He died at the age of 175 and was buried in Hebron with Sarah. Today Hebron is in the West Bank and the area is a large source of contention for the 3 major religions, Jews, Christians, & Muslims, who all claim Abraham as their descendant. We talk about modern day Israel some & then summarize Abraham's life & the lessons we should learn from him.

Peter in HD (Part 42) -- "Who is Winning the Shephelah?"

Peter in HD (Part 42) -- "Who is Winning the Shephelah?"

I need to read Acts 9:35 to you its context.

As you are about to learn in this PODCAST, there is so much more here than meets the eye. At least that meets our eyes.

Acts 9:35 is a truly remarkable statement for original readers of the book of Acts. It will soon be truly remarkable for us. For this one verse exposes the underlying reality in the spiritual climate of the Land that you and I might easily miss. As well as the ongoing spiritual battle for our souls that is being waged every minute of every day in our lives today.

    A truly remarkable verse.

So hear it as I begin at verse 32. “Meanwhile, Peter traveled from place to place, and he came down to visit the believers in the town of Lydda. There he met a man named Aeneas, who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years. Peter said to him, ‘Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up, and roll up your sleeping mat!’ And he was healed instantly.

Now verse 35, “Then the whole population of Lydda and Sharon saw Aeneas walking around, and they turned to the Lord.” Anything jaw-dropping strike you about those words? Are we missing anything here? I’ll give you a hint: Yes! We are missing a ton! All of which has to do with these two telling locations: One a town—Lydda; the other a region—Sharon.

Foreign to us; all-too-familiar to the people of that land at that time.

It’s the old story: We cannot understand the biblical play if we don’t understand the stage on which the play is performed.

So in this podcast, I’ll take you on a fascinating tour of the stage.

Please remember that depending upon your web browser and connection speed, it may take up to 60 seconds for this podcast to begin to play.

God bless you richly as you listen.

This Candy Man Can: Richard G. Ross Builds a Global Candy & Confections Empire

This Candy Man Can: Richard G. Ross Builds a Global Candy & Confections Empire

This week, on a special holiday-weekend edition of Monday Morning Radio, host Dean Rotbart interviews Richard G. “Rick” Ross, founder and owner of GALERIE Candy & Gifts. GALERIE is known the world over for creating highly original, trendy novelties and gifts around candies, including collector’s items, interactive toys, plush characters, and the like.

Rick’s company also produces and distributes branded treats for Hershey, Disney, Warner Brothers, Marvel – and tons of popular movies, including Star Wars, Despicable Me, Minions, and Trolls.

The interview is a reunion of sorts for Dean and Rick, who first met back in 1981 – when Rick was a 19-year-old jelly bean entrepreneur and Dean, then 24, was a cub reporter working for The Wall Street Journal in its Cleveland bureau.

That year, Dean actually profiled Rick on the front page of the Journal, a distinction that few small business owners will ever be lucky or successful enough to merit.

Rick, now 56, is in the Candy Hall of Fame

This week, Rick not only catches up with Dean, he shares his storybook journey from teen tycoon to candy industry senior statesman, and talks about the pluses and minuses of achieving success and recognition at such an early age.

Fittingly, Rick’s mother, Helen, makes a cameo on the podcast, as it was Rick’s mother who really launched him on his path to success.

    077 CJC WBS - Genesis 23:3-20 - Sarah's Burial

    077 CJC WBS - Genesis 23:3-20 - Sarah's Burial

"Sarah's Burial." That's the title of today's episode, which has Genesis 23:3-20 as its main text. In this study, we see that, though this may have been Abraham's darkest hour, yet God is causing one of His Promises to sprout. We are also reminded that, though we may be taken advantage of in this life, God supplies all we'll need to overcome the obstacles along the path to which He has called us to walk.

    076 CJC WBS - Genesis 22:20-23:2 - Nahor's Descendants and Sarah's Death

"Nahor's Descendants and Sarah's Death." That's the title of today's episode, which has Genesis 22:20-23:2 as its main text. In this study, we run across another list of names, but we take time to pull out some gems from this seeming pile of rubble. We see once again that the Bible speaks from history rather than as myth or legend. In addition, we see evidence of design (suggesting a Designer). And we also see evidence that God prepares a solution even before we're faced with our latest, seemingly impossible problem.
