SERIES: Ramadan Hiatus: Unready for Ramadan with Zaiba & Uzma

Zaiba and Uzma discussed how they faced the biggest "mommying challenges" during Ramadan 2019, and how they break us and make us. In light of the current siege in G@z@, we feel broken indeed and for that reason look forward to Ramadan.

We were inspired to replay this due a recent post by @drhanaa,peacewithinhome, because the ummah is sharing survivors' guilt while our brothers and sisters suffer across the world because of our tax dollars. Everything sticks in our throats where our rage and tears are balled up, but her recent post about how to explain this Ramadan to our kids is key, and this episode is a reminder of the lengths we have gone to in the past for our families in Ramadan. This year, the stakes are higher. Oh, Allah, You are The One Who forgives greatly, and loves to forgive, so forgive us. (Tirmidhi).

And let this be the Ramadan that brings forgiveness, mercy, and peace to the ones who need it most. Allahuma ameen. Tune in at 6pm EST and share with a momsister who also can't remember the excitement of this most beloved guest of the year, Ramadan.

Sony's "Madame Web" faces colossal Box Office failure, shattering future Superhero plans

Sony's "Madame Web" faces colossal Box Office failure, shattering future Superhero plans
Sony grapples with a major setback as its latest superhero film, Madame Web, starring Dakota Johnson, disappointingly garners a mere $52 million during its Valentine's Day opening weekend. Despite ambitious plans to introduce characters like Julia Carpenter, Anya Corazon, and Mattie Franklin for potential sequels, the movie emerges as one of the most considerable superhero flops. This poor reception signals a potential hiatus for any further exploration of the clairvoyant superhero, with insiders anticipating a prolonged absence of Madame Web from the big screen. Sony now pins its hopes on upcoming releases like Kraven the Hunter and Venom 3 to recalibrate its superhero aspirations in an ever-evolving cinematic landscape.

Let's Talk Vine(YL)- From Pearl Jam Tours to Wine and Music's Emotional Journey

Let's Talk Vine(YL)- From Pearl Jam Tours to Wine and Music's Emotional Journey

We're back behind the mic, refreshed and eager to reconnect with you after our pause from the podcast world. Our studio's gotten a facelift with new instruments, tech, and dreams of live sessions that promise to get your heart pumping to the rhythm of our favorite beats. This episode is a celebration of new beginnings, from the shiny cables lining our studio floor to the personal milestones that make the journey worthwhile. My 15-year adventure with Heather intertwines with musings on the butterfly effect, painting a picture of how every choice weaves the intricate tapestry of our lives.

You'll hear about my own hiatus escapades, which took me from the sun-soaked beaches of Mexico to the quest for the perfect slice of Kansas City pizza. A fitness journey that sprouted from holiday indulgences has found its way to TikTok, where you can join me in the pursuit of health, sweat, and the elusive runner's high. But it's not just personal transformations we're talking about; get the lowdown on Pearl Jam's rumored new sounds, tours, and the thrill of a guitar riff that feels like it's been crafted just for our collective air-guitar fantasies.

We wrap up with a heartfelt conversation on Pearl Jam's tour dates that span the globe, the whispers of a surprise album drop that echo "Gigaton," and the soul-stirring power of tracks like "Sirens" and "Man of the Hour." These are more than just songs; they're the companions to our life's most poignant moments. And because no jam session is complete without the perfect pairing, we recount the tale of Drew Bledsoe's transformation from NFL quarterback to vintner, exploring how wine, just like music, has the power to anchor us to memories, emotions, and each other. Come for the tunes, stay for the stories—let's celebrate this symphony of life together.

    S3E16 Delusions and Illusions

    S3E16 Delusions and Illusions

Dr. Pete brings topics from his recent dharma talk on delusions and illusions, the Zen teaching of how nothing exists outside the mind. The world as we see it can all be viewed as one big illusion, which is a western practice of cognitive defusion. Dr. Rubin gently challenges around the concept and reminds us that humans have difficult experiences and it is important to acknowledge those feelings. The doctors get into the conversation of letting go and how the Eastern teaching is hard for the Westerner. Tune in to see how to manage life as delusions and illusions.

Visit http://www.wheneastmeetswest.us/ to learn more about Dr. Pete and Dr. Rubin.

Peter Economou, Ph.D. and Nikki Rubin, Psy.D. discuss modern psychological science and its integration with ancient Eastern practices with takeaway tools for everyone.

    S3E13_Renewal

    S3E13_Renewal

Dr. Rubin introduces the subtle shifts of seasons on the west coast compared to the east coast seasonal changes. This episode highlights that the act of returning is a behavior and the idea of renewal is an experience. Dr. Rubin breaks this down for listeners and Dr. Pete brings in the eastern spirituality focusing on the metaphor: Watering the seed is renewal. Tune in to learn about the experience of renewing in your life and that at this moment you can make a commitment to upgrading some part of your life (i.e., renewal).

    S3E12_Resilience

    S3E12_Resilience

Dr. Pete introduces the nature of resilience in psychology and living while Dr. Rubin reminds that resilience is connected to grit. She named the ingredients as: grit, connection, love and connection, and compassion. There was a moment of disagreement, which does not happen often between these two, when it came to grit. It was a true east versus west conversation since Dr. Pete uses that word at least twice a day for the past 15 years and Dr. Rubin recently found herself describing grit in session. You do not want to miss this episode to learn about cultivating resilience.

    S3E11_Panic

    S3E11_Panic

Dr. Rubin introduces the education regarding panic symptoms and panic attacks, and how they are precipitated by a perceived threat. Drs. Rubin and Pete present the symptoms and present some mechanisms that people use to manage panic. Dr. Pete brings the Eastern teachings with the focus on anxiety and nonattachment. Tune into this episode to learn about the east and west perception of panic.
