    South Dade's Vic Balmeceda joins the podcast for the first episode and the legendary coach dives into many topics.

    We discuss the come-from-behind state IBT championship in 2022 and how his team was prepared for that scenario.

    The podcast also centers on the high standards and traditions that have developed at South Dade and how each team tries to live up to those levels. 

    Balmeceda talks about his relationship with his Hall-of-Fame assistant coach Humberto Reyna and what makes the two of them work so well together.

    Other topics include designing plans for each individual wrestler, the rise of girls wrestling and a few secrets that go into South Dade's preparations.

    The Sports Blanket is back and Bob Selby and David Bingham are ready to cover all thing sports. 

    In episode 6 of the Blanket, the guys post up at the Iowa Hall of Pride in beautiful Downtown Des Moines, Iowa. Bob and David kick off the show by talking to Wyatt Schultz, owner and author of The Predicament, a publication that covers wrestling within the state of Iowa. Outside of The Predicament, Wyatt is a sports photographer and his works has appeared in publications such as Wrestling USA, USA Wrestler, Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine, and Sports Illustrated.

    Next, the guys take a few minutes to talk to Matthew Lewis, a senior from Centerville, Iowa who just became 29th Iowa wrestler to win 4 state titles after defeating Osage's Nick Fox 3-2 in the finals of the state tournament at 145 pounds.. Matt talks about his wrestling journey and what his future has in store for him.

    To wrap up the show, Bob and David dial up Gabe Bakker. Gabe has been on the guys' radar since he was a high schooler playing for Dike-New Hartford and talks about how much he is looking forward to making his return to Central Iowa and leading the program as the new head football coach at Waukee.

    5 Wayland Warriors talk wrestling then it goes wrong
    Five Wayland High wrestlers in senior captains Brooks Jones and Erik Sweeney, and juniors Cameron Jones, George Natsis and CJ Brown join host to talk about Wayland winning the Warrior Cup over rival Lincoln-Sudbury and much more about the wrestling program.
     
    The five Warriors began the podcast by singing the song they listen to before every home match and ended the podcast with an impromptu promposal, which is when people ask other people to junior prom, by Brown.

    Five Ashland wrestlers joined host Tommy Cassell to talk about the Clockers' recent Coaches vs. Cancer wrestling match with Hopkinton. (Check out the photos)
     
    The quintet of wrestlers also talked all thing wrestling -- including cauliflower ear, ringworm, wardrobe choices, weigh-ins and packing a bag -- while also discussing how cancer has impacted the Ashland wrestling team and community.
     
    The wrestlers also kept things loose by opening up the podcast by singing "Juju On That Beat" -- a song and dance you'll sometimes see and hear at an Ashland wrestling practice.
