    Pink Floyd X2

Bart, Justina, and John talk about 2 new documentaries centering on Pink Floyd. The first is "Squaring the Circle (the story of hipgnosis)," a film by Anton Corbijn about the legendary company that made some of the most iconic album covers but started by working with Pink Floyd. The second, "Have you Got it Yet? The Story of Syd Barett and Pink Floyd," was made by one of the founders of Hipgnosis, Storm Thorgerson and Rody Bogawa. Why musicians are selling catalog rights

Why musicians are selling catalog rights

You might have heard that Bob Dylan, RHCP, Neil Young and even David Guetta have sold the rights to their music to companies like Hipgnosis for obscene sums of money. What does this mean? Why do artists do that? Did Tony really make three puns despite not being a rock music fan?

Chuck, Srikeit and Tony get together to talk about this new trend (artists selling music, that is - not Tony making rock puns) and the conversation gradually steers to what it means for the future of music, art and life itself.

Referenced in the episode - Ted Gioia's predictions on the future of music.

Alternate Current Radio Presents: BOILER ROOM - Learn to protect yourself from predatory mass media.

In the first segment of this special broadcast Boiler Room host, Hesher, is joined by Mark Anderson of Stop The Presses and thetruthhound.com to discuss the idea of taking the narrative away from the mass media to interrupt the brainwashing of the various corporate and political interests who wish to force citizens to live in fear. Hesh and Mark are relating this topic to the current freedom from medical mandate protests in Canada as the trucker organized protests have become bigger and bigger news and a larger problem for the Canadian politicians working at the behest of the pandemic industrial complex and big pharma.

In the second segment Hesher and Mark are discussing the curious case of Neil Youn, Joni Mitchell and other "Laurel Canyon Graduates" self-cancelling on Spotify in defiance of the platform "allowing" Joe Rogan to interview Dr. Peter McColugh and Dr. Robert Malone on his podcast. Is this a case of ideology and belief over profit for these artists or is there something more to it? Enter the story of Blackrock and Hipgnosis corporate interests and their connections to Pfizer. ESG ratings equate to corporate cultural manipulation? ...All this and more on this episode of BOILER ROOM!

    14: Hipgnosis

For their first episode of 2016, the Poster Boys depart from the world of one-sheets for a quick spin around some of music’s most visually engaging album covers courtesy of the design powerhouse Hipgnosis. From Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, Brandon and Sam explore the prolific career of a small design studio working out of London’s Tin Pan Alley from the late 1960s until the early 1980s. They cap things off with a return to the world of film, where they open up the Flat File and find a surprising amount of unused work for Ron Howard’s 1984 comedy, Splash.
