What? Why? and Who?
What is Jesus doing? Why is He doing it? Who is He?
Looking at the Three Days of Holy Week: Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.
Tuesday of the Fourth Week of Lent. While preaching in the Garden of Gethsemane, Father Dave reminds us how Jesus chose to suffer for us. He highlights Jesus’ fear before his crucifixion, and how God shares in our pain. Preached at Church of All Nations, Garden of Gethsemane, Jerusalem, Israel on 03-21-23
Esto Fidelis usque ad mortem et tibi dabo Coronam Vitae--Remain Faithful and I will give you the Crown of Life.
That is the promise Jesus offers to those who love Him. If you have met Him, know what He has done for you, and why He did it they we will ESTO FIDELIS...remain faithful! Just as John did.
Happy Easter! He is Risen...Truly He is Risen!
Why would Jesus do this? All of it? That's the question we're going to explore this entire Holy Week--why?
And then examine the why through the eyes of St. John, the Beloved Disciple.
"If we knew the value of the Mass we would die of joy." -- St. John Marie Vianney

Jesus' prayer in Gethsemane is a model of Christian prayer. His prayer is simple, honest, and focused on God. He perseveres in trusting petition and is eventually strengthened by his heavenly Father. The Agony in the Garden teaches us the importance of fidelity to our own prayer life. We need to pray and in a mysterious way God needs our prayer.

Thoughts for Holy Thursday: Fr. McCarthy explains how the Nonviolent Love of Jesus for both friends and enemies is historically at the heart of His passion and death. It must therefore be communicated as being ineradicably at the heart of the Eucharist.
