Mass Programming... are you under a spell?

Mass Programming... are you under a spell?

Are we simply lean, mean conditioned response machines programmed to respond automatically to specific triggers?

The field of Cybernetics explores communication and control in living organisms and machines, raising many provocative questions about the nature of human behavior. One theory being that we might be akin to sophisticated robots, meticulously conditioned to respond in predetermined ways. This perspective challenges traditional ideas of free will and autonomy, suggesting that our actions and reactions are governed by a complex interplay of stimuli and responses, much like a programmed machine.

In this podcast I will delving into the unsettling idea of mass programming and the idea of humans as programmable entities that have been manipulated and controlled.  What I can guarantee is that it will prompt reflection on the intricate dance between external influences and the intricacies of your consciousness.

Self-Healing Through Self Hypnosis with Dr. David Spiegel

    Show Summary:

“Our brains are a powerful evolutionary advantage, yet we lack a manual to fully utilize them. Just as athletes train their bodies, we can train our brains through self-hypnosis—a tool that can help intensify focus, manage pain and stress, break bad habits, improve attention, and achieve better sleep.”

If you're seeking a natural and scientifically-backed solution to alleviate pain, reduce stress, and break free from harmful habits, self-hypnosis holds the key. Contrary to popular belief that hypnosis is just a show or intimidating, it is actually a gentle and natural practice that offers practical benefits, even in the field of medicine.

Today, we have the privilege of being joined by the esteemed psychiatrist and hypnosis expert, Dr. David Spiegel. In this episode, he unravels the science behind hypnosis and shares invaluable insights on how we can harness the power of self-hypnosis to enhance our mental and physical well-being. Memorable Moments:

02:51 - Hypnosis is just a state of highly focused attention. It's like when you get so caught up in a good movie that you forget you're watching the movie and you enter the imagined world… It's the ability to narrow the focus of attention and put outside of conscious awareness things that would ordinarily be in consciousness.

03:44 - Shifting mental states has great power. And it's something that we can learn to use better to help us live better.

04:24 - You can start out dealing with stressors on the outside by dealing with the way they affect your body on the inside. That's the way you start to gain control.

06:32 - This is better because [for example] you're trying to get to sleep at three in the morning. I'm not going to be there to hypnotize you back to sleep. But the app is.

07:24 - Hypnosis is the oldest Western conception of Psychotherapy. It started 250 years ago—the first time that talking interaction between the doctor and the patient was thought to have therapeutic value.

10:05 - Just by shifting your focus to how your body feels, you're changing the relationship between external stressors and our normal reaction.

10:43 - Learn to approach stress by first handling the thing you can best handle, which is how your body reacts to it, and then approach the problem and figure out what to do about it.

11:42 - Hypnosis is Western. It's meant to solve a problem… And it's more focused on changing a given problem. You do it not just to be open and to lose yourself but rather to deal with your pain or your stress.

16:05 - We're born with this big brain and a great imagination, but not with a user's manual. We don't use it very well.

The Truth About Hypnosis with Krystyna Lennon #10

The Truth About Hypnosis with Krystyna Lennon #10

CAN PRINCESS THE HYPNODOG REALLY HYPNOTISE YOU WITH HER SUPERPOWERS???

    No.

Not without the help of my guest, Krystina Lennon (labelled the world’s best hypnotist by CBS).

You might remember the pair from Britain’s Got Talent, when she hypnotised nine members of the talent show’s audience, including Ant and Dec and Simon Cowell.

With Princess ready to hang up her collar and retire, Krystina asked if she could come and talk to me about the truth behind Hypnodog, and some of the new projects she’s working on.

I did have a list of questions, but that went out of the window pretty quickly, instead we talk about things like:

Are we all victims of covert hypnosis?

    Can anyone be hypnotised?

What really happened on Britain’s Got Talent?

Has she ever used hypnosis to do something bad?

    Is the Queen a lizard?

Plus, Krystyna attempts to hypnotise me and the team in the studio.  This might sound a bit odd. You'd be better going over to YouTube to watch it www.youtube.com/mikewinnet

Not wanting to be left out, Hypno dog makes a brief cameo by biting our sound engineer, Latch.

Nothing too serious in this one. Just a fun way to wrap up series 1 of the podcast.
