S6E27 went out live at 7 pm on Thursday 76 July 1023 on Rebel Rock Radio.  It was a pleasure to pick up from where the Rock Doctor left off.  It is a great pleasure to welcome Mario to Rebel Rock Radio and he set a perfect platform for the show.     

This week’s Ultimate Challenge was from the year 1974, the albums were Queen – Queen II, David Bowie – Diamond Dogs, UFO – Phenomenon, and The Rolling Stones – It’s Only Rock and Roll 

We had new tracks from Mammoth WVH and Therapy?  Wolfgang Van Halen apparently used Eddies original Frankenstrat and one of the Marshalls he used on Van Halen 1.  So happy Wolfie has taken hold of the flame.   

The Immortals this week paid tribute to all our friends in the USA and we wished them an awesome Independence Day earlier this week.  To celebrate we played Bruce Springsteen’s 4th of July, Ashbury Park (Sandy) off Live '75 - '85, one of the best live albums ever made imho.

We also had a short interview with Truth Decayed’s front man Ryno Theron and played 'Vicious Circles' off their brand new EP Faded Visions II 

It was a great little show and we had some fun, thanks to those who tuned in a contributed with requests and comments.

Join my husband Kevin and I as we talk about everything from Lebron James breaking records, to being newlyweds with four kids, to almost not recording this episode at all because of a tough day. We do a deep dive into what it's like parenting teenagers who are working through trauma and PTSD.  We also share what we've struggled with while adjusting to our new family dynamic and how focussing on our relationship as husband and wife being the foundations sets the tone for our family.  Kevin and I share what our takeaways are from Lebron's inspiring career and how its actually more courageous to follow your purpose and go against the grain, than to simply do what everyone else says you should. 

Season 6 episode 2 went out live on 12 January 2023 on Rebel Rock Radio, once again the live show was ruined by the load shedding issues we are suffering with in South Africa.  Power out for around 6 hours every 24 hours so the cell phone towers just cannot cope.  The show kicked off with Aaron Keylock and cool slow bluesy track called ‘Just One Question’.  The slowish start was kicked into touch by Pat Travers and his party anthem ‘Snortin Whiskey’.  The Cult with ‘King Contrary Man’ was a breath of fresh air, Electric has stood the test of time, Rick Rubin did an amazing job and Billy Duffy was just magnificent on this album.   

Sadly, we heard about the passing of Jeff Beck this morning.  He died suddenly after contracting bacterial meningitis.  We took a listen to a track he did with Ozzy Osbourne on the latest Ozzy album (A Top 10 TSORR album for 2022), called ‘A Thousand Shades’.  I interspersed quite a bit of Jeff’s work throughout the show.  TSORR is all about guitar driven music and Jeff Beck was one of the finest exponents of that.  RIP Jeff.  On a happier note, fellow Yardbird Jimmy Page is doing just fine and turned 79 this week.  To celebrate I allowed ‘Whole Lotta Love’ to make its TSORR debut.  It was a bit like Judas Priest getting into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, everyone knows they should have been there but for some reason it took a long time.  Iron Maiden and Burning Witches out of Switzerland followed on .

Celebrating out the anniversary of the launch of a track that changed everything in 1991 was a highlight of the show. I am talking about Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, released this week 32 years ago.  Don’t you just feel ancient now? 😊.  We followed it with another classic from 1991 in the form of ‘ Bullet In The Head’ from Rage Against the Machine.  Poison and Bon Jovi represented the ‘80s and then we took in another track in the new series I am calling ‘Songs that could be written about South Africa’, Tom Petty with ‘Straight Into Darkness’.  From there it was goosebump time, Springsteen off his On Broadway album and a perfect version of 'My Hometown' originally on the Born In The USA album.  It's the lyrics and the way he tells the story that is just so visceral.

This show is probably as mellow as TSORR gets so we did some ACDC, Airbourne and Slayer to restore some balance before checking out this weeks track in the weekly Immortals section.  This is where we take an immortal rock song that is longer than 7 minutes and is as iconic as iconic can be.  David Bowie would have been 76 this week so it was fitting to feature 'The Width of a Circle' off The Man Who Sold The World as this weeks immortal track.  From there is was the downhill run, two more tracks to say cheers to Jeff Beck, ZZ Top's Rough Boy where Jeff takes a solo and a cover of 'Like A Rolling Stone' off the Chimes of Freedom compilation with Seal on vocals , it is absolutely superb.  We ended with some heavy stuff from Arch Enemy and Deangersmith off his brilliant Lead Me to Your Taker (Disable The Corrupt) album and a powerful swipe at the massive overreach we experienced during the pandemic.

In 2023, I also plan to change the focus of my second podcast, the Real Estate Diplomat. The shows current focus is an American's guide to global real estate looking through a geo-political lens. While there may be some episodes that relate to real estate, I plan to shift the focus geopolitics through the eyes of an American real estate entrepreneur (me). I plan to speak to all types of people in regards to geo-political affairs who interest me, and I hope listeners come along for the ride.  I view this show as my passion project, and I want to lean into that passion. God had been placing it on my heart to share stories of faith, but I kept saying no. My excuse was that I didn’t have time, but what was more frightening was failing. 

God gave me a HUGE ahhha moment where He spoke so clearly to me using a Women’s Conference and guest speaker Alli Worthington. 
For this miracle to take place many people had to be obedient, including what God was placing on Alli's heart to say from the stage.

In this episode, David Blayney speaks with Dr Philip Zylstra an adjunct associate professor at Curtin University, whose research focuses on the drivers of fire behaviour, flammability and modelling bushfire risk. 

Dr Zylstra gives context to prescribed burning of Australian landscapes, raises questions on the effectiveness of current fire prevention strategies and discusses how our current methods differ vastly from traditional Aboriginal fire practice.
