The Balancing Act (Part 1 Trailer)

The Balancing Act (Part 1 Trailer)

If only I had multiple arms to balance multiple tasks. I just might make it to the end of this tight rope with balance! But what does this study say? The ability-to-balance-self-on-one-leg-with-eyes-closed test can predict if middle-aged people are at risk of death before the age of 66??? You mean I might not make it to the end at all?

Balance must be important! Discover with me how balance is possible with the help of the One Who is Able, and Strong and is a model of perfect balance.

    The Balancing Act (Part 1)

    The Balancing Act (Part 1)

The more things to juggle, the more challenging it is to balance life.  This episode presents the importance of balance, first through the eyes of a child-gymnast multi-sport athlete Irish Planes-Funtalan who was gracious enough to answer my questions. Watch the video-interview here: https://nanaysnotes.blogspot.com/2024/03/the-balancing-act-interview-with-irish.html

Some interesting studies show why balance can mean strength, determine sobriety and predict early death risks like this one: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/the-simple-tests-that-tell-if-you-ll-live-to-a-ripe-old-age-9303994.html

Special appreciation goes to a dear friend Zebedee Zuñiga for helping me make beautiful balance and mix of the Nanay's Notes Season 4 Theme Song used in this episode!

039 - Chapter 6: The Imbalance of Negative Thoughts (and Kat Von D)

039 - Chapter 6: The Imbalance of Negative Thoughts (and Kat Von D)

In this episode, I read from my new book, Imbalances: The Addict's Guide to Fixing Our Broken Lives, Chapter 6--The Imbalance of Negative Thoughts. It's human nature to have negative thoughts, but did you know it's sinful nature to be someone who continually thinks, voices, or acts on negative thoughts? Sometimes, Christians are the worst at this. But both Jesus and the Apostle Paul tell us that true Christians don't behave in this way. Today, I share an awful story about my past, and how my best friend's negative thoughts hurt me very deeply. I also discuss Kat Von D's baptism in her Christian faith, and the negativity she received from so-called "fellow Christians."

If you want to see the awesome interview Kat did on Allie Beth Stuckey's YouTube channel, where she gives her full testimony, you can view that here:  Kat Von D's story

038 - Chapter 5: The Imbalance of Relationships (A Tribute to Matthew Perry)

038 - Chapter 5: The Imbalance of Relationships (A Tribute to Matthew Perry)

In this episode, I read from my new book, Imbalances: The Addict's Guide to Fixing Our Broken Lives, Chapter 5--The Imbalance of Relationships. This is also a bit of a tribute episode to actor Matthew Perry from the show "Friends," who battled the spiritual attack of addiction for many, many years. I also share three (actually four) heartbreaking stories of relationships gone bad, and show you the easiest way to love in the way God wants us to. AND, in the way that brings balance to our lives, which in turn prevents spiritual attack.

I mention at one point the video by Pastor Vlad Savchuck about the ten signs you're battling a demon or unclean spirit, of which I had 6 or 7 of them when I was in the depths of my gambling addiction. Click here to watch that YouTube video: https://youtu.be/92Q_Zo3C1DA

Finding Fulfillment in Corporate Life: Reflections on Regrets and Growth Opportunities [EP 11]

Finding Fulfillment in Corporate Life: Reflections on Regrets and Growth Opportunities [EP 11]
On this episode of Coaching Chats, Rukshana discusses three things she wishes she had done differently during her corporate career. Rukshana shares her regrets about not starting her online presence earlier, including writing online, establishing a YouTube channel, and having a podcast. She believes that utilizing social media in the right way would have helped her think more clearly, analyze information better, and effectively communicate her message. Building an online presence could have also opened up opportunities for networking, personal branding, and professional growth. Despite acknowledging the challenge of gaining visibility in the crowded social media landscape, Rukshana emphasizes the importance of reflecting on these regrets and making changes for a better future. In addition to her regrets about her online presence, Rukshana touches on the topic of mental resilience in the financial services industry, an area vital for coping with the challenges of tight deadlines, difficult people, and office politics. She shares her struggles with maintaining mental strength and highlights the toxic workplace environment that can result from office politics. Rukshana also reflects on the imbalance caused by prioritizing work too much, which took a toll on her physical health and social interactions. If given the chance, she would have prioritized her well-being by going to the gym after work and investing time in meaningful connections outside of the office. Tune in to this episode to gain insights from Rukshana's reflections and learn how to navigate the complexities of the corporate world or any other industry.

    56 - Work Life Balance

    56 - Work Life Balance

Cindy Esliger discusses the idea of work life balance in this episode. There is no one definition that everyone agrees on, but we all agree we want to achieve some notion of enough time for both work and personal lives without one overwhelming the other. How do we actually accomplish that, though?

The buzz word trend of “work life balance” today means it encompasses a wide array of thoughts. What is “personal” life to you? Family? Friends? Charitable pursuits? Home life? Hobbies? Caregiving? Exercising? And should we feel guilty if we enjoy work and are very dedicated to it? Cindy breaks down all the things work and personal lives mean to us and how to view them without guilt.

Overwhelm is the enemy of balance regardless of how we define it, however. So Cindy shares five self-sabotaging mistakes we make when we’re overwhelmed: 1) Dismissing things that might help, 2) Not making space for minds to wander, 3) Interpreting the feeling of overwhelm as weakness, 4) Not being flexible or adapting to changing demands, and 5) Missing opportunities to restore energy. Cindy walks us through each one and sheds light on ways to find fulfillment in whatever balance we find most rewarding.
