Did the Indian Ocean swallow a whole continent? If so, can present countries also vanish from existence?

The story of Vaali Sugreeva - Part 01

The story of Vaali Sugreeva - Part 01

In a brand new episode of a two-part segment of Voice of Bengaluru, host Sowjanya talks about the epic tale of two brothers, Vaali and Sugreeva.

Vaali Sugreeva is a story that is part of the ancient Indian epic, the Ramayana. The story is known for its themes of loyalty, betrayal, and brotherhood, and is often cited as a classic example of Indian mythology. According to the story, Vaali and Sugreeva were the sons of the monkey king Riksharaj and his wife. Vaali was born with immense strength, and as a result, he became the king of Kishkindha. Sugreeva, on the other hand, was less powerful and was often overshadowed by his elder brother. One day, a powerful demon named Mayavi attacked Kishkindha. Vaali, who was known for his bravery, challenged Mayavi to a fight. The two engaged in a fierce battle, but soon Mayavi realized that he was no match for Vaali's strength. In order to save himself, Mayavi disguised himself as a sage and begged Vaali for mercy. Vaali, being a kind-hearted person, let Mayavi go, not realizing that he was actually a demon. The following day, Mayavi returned to Kishkindha with his brother, Subahu. The two demons began to attack the monkeys of Kishkindha, and in the chaos that ensued, Sugreeva's wife was taken captive. Sugreeva begged Vaali to help him rescue his wife, but Vaali refused, saying that he was too busy and that Sugreeva should handle the matter himself. Feeling betrayed, Sugreeva fled from Kishkindha and eventually met Rama, the hero of the Ramayana.

The story of the invention of Aeroplanes before the Wright Brothers - Part 02

The story of the invention of Aeroplanes before the Wright Brothers - Part 02

In this last episode of a two-part segment of the Voice of Bengaluru, host Sowjanya continues the interesting story of the invention of an Indian aeroplane before the Wright brothers invented one - all with the help of Vaimanika Shastra.

The story of Shivkar Bapuji Talpade's "Marutsakha" is one of the earliest attempts at building an aeroplane by an Indian inventor before the Wright brothers invented one. Talpade, a Sanskrit scholar and a Vedic scholar, reportedly built an unmanned aircraft in Mumbai in 1895 based on ancient Vedic texts. The Vaimanika Shashtra is often cited as evidence of India's advanced scientific knowledge and technological capabilities in ancient times. It is also seen as evidence of the country's long-standing interest in flight and aerospace technology. The text is believed to have influenced later works in Indian literature and science, including the ancient treatises on architecture and engineering. Despite its many fascinating descriptions of flying machines and aerospace technology, the authenticity of the Vaimanika Shashtra has been a matter of debate among scholars for many years.

The story of the invention of Aeroplanes before the Wright Brothers - Part 01

In a brand new episode of a two-part segment of the Voice of Bengaluru, host Sowjanya tells an interesting story of the invention of an Indian aeroplane before the Wright brothers invented one - all with the help of Vaimanika Shastra.

Vaimanika Shashtra is an ancient Sanskrit text that describes flying machines and aerospace technology. It is believed to have been written by sage Bharadwaja, who lived during the Vedic period in India, which dates back to around 1500-500 BCE. The text contains detailed descriptions of various types of flying machines, including vimanas, which were said to be powered by mercury, electric charge, and solar energy. The Vaimanika Shastra is considered to be one of the most important and mysterious texts in the history of Indian literature. It is said to contain information about aircraft that was not just capable of flight but also possessed extraordinary capabilities like invisibility, the ability to change shape and size, and the capacity to travel vast distances in short amounts of time. It is also said to contain detailed information on the technology used to create these aircraft. One of the most remarkable things about the Vaimanika Shashtra is the sophistication of the technology described in the text. The vimanas described in the text are said to be capable of travelling at great speeds, both in the air and on the ground. They were also equipped with a range of advanced weapons, including missiles, laser beams, and sound waves. The text even describes aircraft that were capable of travelling underwater.
